The author made the histopathological studies of forty-five removed larynx involving carcinoma: glottic (13 cases), subglottic (2 cases), supraglottic (10 cases), transglottic (12 cases), and marginal hypopharyngeal (8 cases).
The author discussed each case of clinical groups comparing with histopathological findings.
The invasion of carcinoma cells into subglottic areas, laryngeal cartilages and the opposite side was found histologically in moat of the cases in spite of clinically uninvalued findings.
Further, the relation between the mobility of arytenoids and the extention of carcinoma was also discussed from the standpoint of pathology.

During the past six years from 1958 to 1963, we treated 155 cases of the carcinoma of larynx with radiotherapy. The cases were discussed in terms of the preoperative irradiation and the post-irradiation operation.
    1) The source of radiation was chiefly telecobalt 60, and the usual dosage was 6000 to 7000r in 4 to 5 weeks.
    2) Radiotherapy was applied to the glottic type (T1NO and a part of T2NO), the supraglottic type (T1NO) and the early marginal type.
    3) The radiotherapy was successful in 75% for glottic type and 50% for supraglottic type. When the radiotherapy was combined with operation, the rate of success was raised to 95% in glottic type and 83% in supragottic type.
    4) Radiotherapy was the first choice for the early cases of the carcinoma of larynx. When it failed, surgical treatment was instituted.
    5) As the preoperative irradiation, 3500r was given to the cases which had advanced to marginal type from supragottic type.
    6) Operation became difficalt when the field had been irradiated with a large dosage.

Studies on lung function of patients suffering from cardiopulmonary diseases were undertaken to find objective evaluation of dyspnea in following parameters: 1) pulmonary ventilation, 2) work of breathing, 3) sensitivity of respiratory center, 4) circulatory hemodynamics. A grade of dyspnea correlated with dyspnea index of Hugh-Jones, static compliance and CO diffusing capacity, implying that the restrictive impairment of the lung might be resulted in excess ventilation. The apparatus for continuous recoding of work of breathing were demonstrated to detect reasonably a change in sensitivity of respiratory center in emphysema patients, and it was demonstrated that the sensitivity of respiratory center itself could vary even in apparently identical ventilatory response. Considering work of breathing, dyspnea in asthmatic attack was showed to be inspiratory dyspnea rather than expiratory one. Even in mild asthmatic attack work of breathing increased about 20 times as great as that in normals which corresponded to the oxygen consumption within respiratory muscle of about 40cc. In the changes of CO2 response curve after bronchodilator inhalation, one half of asthmatic patients showed to have much sensitive respiratory center and the disturbance in ventilatory regulation was thought to be important as a genesis of asthmatic dyspnea.

Cautirization therapy with an improved galvanocautirizer was attempted to apply to some hypertrophy in the vocal cords, which isnot to be easily treated by the conservative therapy.
The tip of the ordinary galvanocautirizer for laryngologic use was made to be provided with a plate which served to protect the opposite edge of the vocal cords from possible extirpation.
The improved galvanocautirizer proved to be satisfactory in easy and reliable treatment for some hypertrophy, such as the remaining of the vocal cord polyp after polypotomy and the edematous change in the vocal cords.

The authors reported here a case, aged 2 girl, of laryngeal papilloma.
The patient was received irradiation (2 times), corticosteroid hormon and antibiotic treatments, but complete regression was not occurred.
However, continuous female hormon therapy has been done, until she had menses-like genital bleeding, and it was more excellent.

The authors experienced an infant of 1 year and 8 months old female who aspirated a peanut kernel which was supposed to stay into the 1-upper bronchus. Repeated direct bronchoscopy failed to find the foreign body, however, favorably succeeded in extract by the aid of suction with Nelaton rubber tube (No. 4). The authors have made to discussion for clinical diagnosis and treatment of nonopaque foreign body in the bronchus.
