Recently Nukada comfirmed a very interesting fact, that the rate of incidence of whooping cough was the lower, the smaller the number of brothers.
The present author studied 2 1, 0 43 children in Yokosuka City and well acertained the law found by Nukada. He also found this fact was more marked in younger children.
Nukada explained his law by a hypothesis of latent infection. The author assumed, however, that the mother contracted the desease from her childrenand transmitted the immunity to her following children.

The author reported in the previous paper an interesting fact concerning Nukada's law. He further studied his material more in detail. He found the rate of incidence of whooping cough was the lower, the larger th number of brother's order, whence the number of the brotherhood itself had no influence on the rate of incidence.

The author described a family with tic in three generations, the inheritance being irregular dominant varying in expression.
The proband (III-1 in the pedigree chart) aged 15, boy student of a high school, had since 9 years of age symptoms of particularly limited tic movements like grimace and hand shaking without any psychological motive to speak of, and then, as he grew in age, also began winking, springing, throwing things up or dropping, stretching the left hand forward and twisting its fingers, together with tic of the tongue, M. stapedius, and abdomen. Also echolalia, various uncontrollable movements, fitful mental disorder, self-injury and coprolalia were recognized during his hospitalsation. He received insulin shock, electroshock and psychotherapy without effect. Having extremely pleiotropic symptoms and progressive course with an incurable tendency, this case should be included into the category of “Maladie des Tics” first recorded by Gullies du la Tourette in 1885. The present author believs there must be some essential difference between this form of tic and the functional or psychogenic one, because the former may be due to a rare specific mutant gene, while the latter is much common in the population developing constitutional abnormality.
It is interesting, too, that five persons in this family showed various kinds of mental disorder, which probably had genetic relation to the condition of tic, both concurring in the same line of this family, and resembled one another, all developing into temporary state of confusion by psychogenic or somatogenic motivation.

The threshold of judgment (Cj) and of perception (Cp), as defined in the author's previous paper, were determined on 30 (26 males and 4 females) Japanese. The frequency distribUtion of the former is represented in Fig I A, and of the latter in Fig 1 13, both irrespective of sex. (Cf. p. 9 and p. 10)

Acrid taste of Pepper is a chemical sensation, which is, in the domain of perception, allied to the taste sensations sui generis, although it has been regarded as a kind of tactual sensations by most physiologists.
As the pepper is hardly soluble, a milky suspension is prepared from pepper powder, obtained by the author in crushing thoroughly some Sumatran pepper seeds.
Result of taste testing on 10 subjects is recorded in the following table :
    Table J.
Threshold of acrid taste among 10 Japanese, + denotes acrid sensation, - includes heterogeneous sensations such as “sour”peculiar sm-ell' etc.
