We have got a good water-repellent sort of paper by admixing of low-temperature hardening silicone methyl hydrogen polysiloxane, in the emulsified state dispersed in the acid colloidal solution of melamine, to the pulp together with aluminum sulfate.
The breaking strength of the above-mentioned paper decreased along with the increasing amounts of admixture of silicone, which would mean the interruption of entwining and adhesion contributing to the mechanical strengths, it is supposed.
We have got a full-fledged repellency with the amount of admixing of the silicone to the pulp, i. e. such indices of repellency as 38.3 dyne/cm by 120°C, 20min. or 35.0 dyne/cm by 150°C, 5min. of the after heat treatments were obtained respectively.
Seeing that these indices are sufficient and their porosity is suitable for the practical purposes, we can expect many applications in the various fields.
