As far several analyses of wet part drainage have already been introduced. We have also developed a new formula incorporating our own ideas. We have thus succeeded in computing the changing processes of wet sheet consistency by using these formulae. Wet sheet consistency, freeness, head box consistency-which effect the wire part drainage, are used as functions of paper resistance. As a result it is possible to determine the arrangement of the wire part by means of these formulae where certain basic design data are provided. The test results and formulae are presented in this paper.

Mangrove wood is expected to exhibit its merits when it is used in the pulp with high relative viscosity and high content of α-cellulose. Therefore, an attempt was made to prepare polynosic rayon pulp for which these characteristics are required. The polynosic pulp from mangrove wood (MDP) was compared in its reactivity with those from larch wood (NDP-C), M 50 : larch 50 (MNDP), M50 : hardwood 50 (MLDP) and commercial polynosic pulps from softwood (NDP-A and NDP-B). The results were as follows. (1) The analytical values of MDP were comparable with those of the commercial polynosic pulps. (2) The filterability of the viscose prepared from MDP with the emulsion xanthation method was more excellent than that from the other polynosic pulps. (3) In industrial process, the filterability of viscose from MDP was inferior to those from larch DP and commercial NDP in spite of usage of sufficient carbon disulfide at the stage of xanthation. Press ratio to the oven dry pulp which is suitable to viscose process for the MDP was 2.3. However, since the strong press ratio of 2.3 causes heterogeneities in the shredding of sodium cellulose, the press ratio was regulated by blending larch DP or LDP, with MDP. (4) The polynosic pulp of M 50 : larch 50 (MNDP) showed good shredding performance at the press ratio of 2.9 and the filterability of viscose from the MNDP was comparable with that from the commercial NDP-A or NDP-B. At the press ratio of 2.7 and 2.8, the filterability of viscose from the MNDP was largely improved. The polynosic pulp of M 50 : hardwood 50 (MLDP) showed good shredding performance at the press ratio of 2.5, but was inferior in filterability of viscose to that from the MDP.

The distribution of dimensions of “Tanpi” was measured and was compared with “Mitsumata” and “Ganpi” : as shown in Table 1, 2, 3, 9, 10. Length 1.55.7 mm (aver. 2.9 mm); Width 3-15μ (aver. 8.3μ) Fiber ratio is aver. 278 and is simlar to “Ganpi” and is smaller than “Mitsumata”.
The fiber length of “Tanpi” is smaller than “Ganpi” and is close to “Mitsumata”.
The fiber width of “Tanpi” is finer than “Ganpi” and is close to “Mitsumata”.
