ジャーナル フリーNa+, K+-ATPase activity and insulin binding to erythrocytes were studied in insulin dependent diabetic children. The Na+, K+-ATPase activity (μg phosphate/hr/mg protein : mean±SD) of the well controlled group (N=11), the poorly controlled group (N=12) and age-matched controls (N=10) were 3.99±1.49, 2.18±1.07 and 3.79±0.98, respectively. Maximum% insulin binding (% : mean±SD) of the three groups were 5.9±1.1, 4.4±1.2 and 6.8±1.0, respectively. The Na+, K+-ATPase activity and maximum % insulin binding of the poorly controlled group were significantly lower than those of the well-controlled group and controls (p <0.01). Between the well controlled group and controls, there was no significant difference. The blood glucose and glycohemoglobin of the poorly controlled group were higher than those of the well-controlled group (p < 0.02 and p < 0.01, respectively), although the blood levels of free insulin were not different between them.
From these data, we speculated that insulin insensitivity was presented in the poorly controlled group and that the decrease of Na+, K+-ATPase activity in the poorly controlled IDDM was a consequence of the decrease of insulin binding to erythrocytes.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (976K) -

ジャーナル フリーStandard procedure for determination of A subgroups was established by agglutinability of red cells using Falcata japonica lectin besides the reaction with human anti-A, eel anti-H sera and Dolichos biflorus lectin. Family example of Aint which members demonstrate difference in A antigen strength of erythrocytes and in activity of serum A-enzyme was found by the standarized procedure.A2> and A3 red cells did not react with Dolichos biflorus while Falcata japonica agglutinated A2 red cells but not A3 red cells at a titier of 1 : 64. There are dispersions in agglutinability of A2 red cells with Falcata japonica. Weaker α-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase activity than that of A1 was demonstrated in Aint and A2 sera by the conversion of group O red cells into A active cells using papain treated cells as acceptor and anti-A immune serum for agglutinability test. A-transferase activity which converts O red cells into A active cells at the presence of UDP-N-acetylgalactosamine was found in group B sera.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (1698K) -

ジャーナル フリーGlomerular thrombosis (GT) was induced in rats by the combined injections of NTS & LPS. For the amount of NTS which was able to induce a proteinuria of slight grade was required as preparatory and 500 ng/kg or more of LPS was required as provoking agents. LPS should be injected less than 72 hrs after preparatory injection with NTS. Thrombosis developed exclusively in glomerular capillary without any thromboembolic lesions in such organs as lung, liver, & intestine. Transient clamping of the unilateral renal artery for 20 min at the time of NTS injection protected partially the development of GT in clamped side. GT was inhibited in rats with leukocyte counts below 600/μl, although peripheral platelet counts had no effect on the development of GT.This inhibition was partly restored by the injection with 2.5 to 7.5×107 of normal polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) immediately after LPS injection. Intravenous injection either more than 1.0×108 of LPS-treated PMN or their homoginates as provoking agents resulted in marked GT. From the results described above it is concluded that LPS plays as important role in the development of GT through a direct effect on PMN.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (3178K) -

ジャーナル フリーCircadian rhythm of plasma aldosterone (PA) and plasma cortisol (PC) were examined in nine patients aged 67 to 83 years with dementia under forced bed rest and in nine control patients aged 72 to 80 years (five patients with rheumatoid arthritis, four with other diseases).
Blood was withdrawn, while patient was in a supine position, every four hours for 24 consecutive hours beginning noon. Cosinor method was used as a rhythm analysis.
There was a significant rhythmicty of PC in both control patients and patients with dementia.
Mesor of control patients was 11.0±3.3μg/dl : amplitude was 5.6μg/dl : acrophase was 6 : 55 clock hours and dementia patient' mesor was 13.2±5.2μg/dl : amplitude was 3.8μg/dl and acrophase was 7 : 13 clock hours. But no significant difference was revealed in mean vector value.
There was a significant rhythmicity of PA in control patients with mesor of 61±19 pg/ml : amplitude of 22 pg/ml and acrophase of 6 : 26 but not in dementia patients.
These results suggest that PA rhythm in more closely linked to central nervous activity.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (662K) -

ジャーナル フリーA transplantable squamous cell carcinoma in C3H/He strain mouse named GSq-1 was newlly established at the laboratory of radiology of Gunma University. The tumor was induced by painting of 20-methylcholanthrene benzole solution on the skin.
A intramuscular GSq-1 of ten passages was keeping the pattern of well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with a cyst-like portion.
The survival days of the tumor bearing mice into thigh muscle and subcutis of abdominal wall were about 40 days and about 60 days.

ジャーナル フリーPressor response to norepinephrine (NE) infusion was examined in rabbits with renal artery stenosis (1-kidney, 1 clip Goldblatt) with 3-days' duration and sham operated rabbit. The 3-day clipped rabbits showed exaggerated pressor response to NE, though they did not develop hypertension with normal value for plasma renin activity (PRA). Infusion of two angiotensin II antagonists, [1-Sar, 8-Ileu] angiotensin II and [1-Sar, 8-Ara] angiotensin II which were different in amino acid residue in position 8, abolished completely the hyperresponse to NE. These results provide strong evidence that angiotensin II plays an important role in the exaggerated pressor response to NE in the prehypertensive rabbits : however, as a correlation between the value for PRA and for the increased pressor responsiveness to NE were not observed, additional mechanism (s) may be involved in the hyperresponsiveness to NE.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (433K) -

ジャーナル フリーOne Patient, a 38-year-old male, who had an abnormal shadow on the routine chest X-ray examination, was discovered. He was clinically asymptomatic and no abnormalities were obtained on the laboratory studies. Under the diagnosis of probable neurogenic tumor, a thoractomy was performed. Finally, a histologic diagnosis of Castleman's lymphoma (hyaline-vascular type) was made.
One hundred and twenty-two cases from the Japan literature were reviewed. The age of the patient ranged from 6 to 62 years, and there appear to be no paticular sex preference. The 70 of 123cases (57%) of the lesion was located in the thorax, but only 4 cases arising from posterior mediastinum is reported, including our case.
The charactaristics of medical imagings were as follows : They were revealed 1) well-circumstanced and homogeneous shadow, at Chest radiograph, 2) positive accumulation at Scintigraph of 67 Ga-citrate, 3) regular distribution of densities with clear out-line and diffuse enhancement after contrast materials at CT, and 4) hypervascularity at Angiograph.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2712K)
