In this paper, we show the characteristics of product architecture qualitatively through a case study and investigate the relationship between the product architecture and the transaction pattern. As a result, it was shown that a desirable combination exists between the product architecture and transaction patterns from a viewpoint of the boundary of knowledge. However, it was suggested that the possibility of deviation from the desirable combination because transaction pattern and responsibility of quality assurance are contractual matters.
