The purpose of this paper is to illuminate the overall features of the Japanese management and production systems transferred into the industries in Africa, in order to examine its possibility of contribution to economic development in Africa. The Japanese Multinational Enterprise Study Group (JMNESG) did the research from 2009 to 2010 on not only Japanese but also Western and local firms in seven countries of North, East and South of Africa, using “Hybrid Evaluation Model (application-adaptation model)” developed by JMNESG. The remarkable finding is that the Japanese style production systems could be more or less transferred, as a “hybrid type in developing country”, to the industrial societies in Africa.
