This paper traces the two salient trends in sociology today. One is the fact that many sociologists have been turned their attentions from the anomie perspective to the symbolic interactionist-labeling perspective on deviance. The other has been a flood of new publications on Durkheim, especially on his anomie theory. Apparently it seems that there is a contradiction in these trends. However, if we can criticize the "orthodox" interpretations of Durkheim, such as advanced by Parsons-Merton and, in very recent years, by Giddens from the sympathetic side, or at least dismantle the ascendancy of the "internality" thesis, in our terminology, over the "externality" thesis in their interpretations, we will find the same "tone" in both Durkheim's anomie-theory and the labeling approach. We explain several reasons for this same tone and propose some methodological strategies through which we realize how our social life is determined by "their" sanctions (not by "our" own performance).

The purpose of this paper is to engage critical examinations on Alfred Schutz's, theory of Reality and Symbol, and to propose new perspectives about it. The problem of multiple reality has special importance in sociology, because the discipline concerns not with single meaning structure of man, but with multiple meaning structures such as, the world of everyday life, the worlds of phantasms, dreams, religious experiences, scientific contemplations, etc. Sociologically, the problem of symbol also has basic importance because it is the principle to transcend actual-here-now of living experience and to develop cultural and intersubjective social worlds of human beings. Schutz's writings about these problems give us a kind of fundamental problem setting and solving from phenomenological point of view. The present paper at first examines Schutz's theory of reality and symbol, and then proposes six critical points to start further study about man and society.

Various interpretations have been made concerning Weber's political writings. All of them have similarly focussed their attentionon Weber's political position. But every interpretation need not be concerned with his political position. There can be another way of interpretation. Generally speaking, when one maintains some opinions on politics, one must in advance define the political situation itself in a certain way. This defining-of -the -situation process, in other words 《reality》 -perception process, is indispensable to any political arguments. It is, therefore, possible to interprete Weber's political writings with respect to his way of 《reality》 -perception. This approach will enable to understand why Weber could change his opinions 《e.g. those about Fiihrerdemokratie》 so quickly. And it will also explain what he really meant by Sachlichkeit the attitude which he continually required of German people. Arguments are as follows. 《1》 According to Weber's methodology, scientists perceive 《reality》 only by means of ordering it. To scientists, 《reality》 -perception is nothing but an ordering of 《reality》.《2》 In political"arguments, Weber perceives 《reality》 not as a scientist 〈i.e.one outside the 《reality》 〉, but as one within it. In order to seek his unique way of perception there, general consideration of how one -within -reality orders 《reality》will be needed. For this purpose, discussions of symbolic interactionists should be referred to. For their main concern is to analyze how 《reality》can be ordered by an ordinary man 〈i.e. one within- 《reality》〉. 《3》 When discussing politics, Weber, as one within - 《reality》,orders political 《reality》in such a manner as symbolic interactionists have made clear concerning an ordinary man. But Weber was also a scientist. He, unlike other non-scientists, was clearly conscious that his own argument is only an ordering of 《reality》. This clear consciousness made him relatively free from his own opinion.

The aim of this report is to understand dozoku in Nara prefecture and to grasp the dynamics of intra-family relation - ships in dozoku from the view point of yoriki system. Oyama is a village of 106 households, surrounded by mountains and located in north - east part of Nara prefecture, apart from Nara city. The inhabitants has been occupied mainly with a rice crop. But the acreage under cultivation of each family is very small. So, many inhabitants are forced to engage in side Jobs, especially tea manufacturing industries. Now, this industries rise in importance. With the advance of transportation system such as national highway and bus services, Oyama has undergone various social and economic changes. And so, family relationships within the community have tended to adjust themselves to these changes. Every family has at least a yoriki, which is, so to speak, a patron to each family. And every family is at the same time a patron and client. It depends on circumstances for each family to play the role of patron or client. The word yoriki designate the family(ie) which play very important roles not only in the funeral and the other ritual events but also in daily life. Yoriki - relationship between two families, in principle, continues over generations. Itto(dozoku) is a set of the families which recognize their relationships in terms of honke(stem family) and bunke (branch family). Today, only distinct function of ittoes in Oyama is the performance of the funeral. From the moment of the death, the members of itto take over the entire responsibility as a funeral association. There are 16 ittoes in Oyama. Of such ittoes, the most dominant Matsumoto - itto with a few influential bunkes as its leaders trys to reorganize the members by continuing the worship of its guardian deities, rearrangements of the gravestone based on family genealogy at the graveyard, while the hierarchical organization of Matsumoto - itto has rapidly disintegrated since its main honkes going away from the village.

The success boom in Meiji Japan launched out around Meiji 35( 1902). People's pride of a great nation power and rapid industrialization after the victory in the Sino -Japanese war gave rise to the boom. The Magazine Seiko which was modeled on an American Magazine, O.S. Marden's "Success" and was published by Dakro Murakami in Meiji35 had a great influence on the boom. This paper intends to analyze the changing opinion of the magazine in order to examine the success boom and its evolution in the early twentieth century.
