The mouse t haplotype is a variant of chromosome 17 with 4 inversions. The t haplotype mice are widely spread in Mus musculus subspecies in the world with high frequencies (10-43%) by transmission ratio distortion. The comparison of T
cp-1 intron sequences revealed that the origin was 2.9 mya and the spread by introgression over the boundary of subspecies was within 0.4 myr, suggesting their dissemination with man. Most of the polymorphism of In (17) 4 as well as lethality factors are thus supposed to be derived by rare recombination events after the introgression to respective M. musculus subspecies.
