Spermatocyte chromosomes were observed in five taxa of Ennominae (Lepidoptera, Geometridae). Their haploid chromosome numbers established are asfollows: Abraxas fulvobasalis STAUDINGER, n=29 (I, II) (Locality: Bibai, Hokkaido) Deileptenia ribeata (CLERCK), n=31 (I, II) (Locality: Mt. Yubari-dake, Hokkaido) Alcis jubata melanonota PROUT, n=31 (I, II) (Locality: Tsunekawamori, Aomori-ken) Ectropis bistortata (GOEZE), n=32(I, II) (Locality: Bibai, Mt. Yubari-dake and Akita, Akita-ken) Ectropis excellens (BUTLER), n=31 (II) (Locality: Ogi, Niigata-ken) Their metaphase configurations were shown in Figs.1-5. A single element which is largest in size is distinguished in the haploid complement of Abraxas fulvobasalis.
