The name of Parectopa pavoniella ZELLER was recorded for the first time in Japan by Dr. S. ISSIKI in the "Icon. Ins. Jap., ed. 2: 453, f. 1221" in 1950. Examining the specimen by his favour, the author came to know that the above one was quite different from the true one. On the other hand the author has some specimens of the same genus which were collected by him at Mt. Hikosan and the species is closely related to pavoniella ZELLER. Comparing the specimens with the European ones sent from Dr. E. M. HERING, of the Berlin Zoological Museum, the auther came to know that the specimens of the ought to be identified as the true pavoniella. In the present paper the author recorded not only the true species from Japan but also made mention of its life-history which was observed by him at Mt. Hikosan, N. Kyushu and added Aster scaber THUNBERG to the list of its host plant. According to the author's careful comparison, the Japanese race seems to differ slightly from the nominotypical one from Europe by the basal streak of the forewing reaching to the dorsal edge.
