The present paper is a part of taxonomic study of the larvae of the Japanese Geometridae. In this paper the author described the mature larvae of all the nominal species of the genera Ourapteryx LEACH and Tristrophis BUTLER occurring in Japan. The terminology for the seta is of HINTON'S (1946) system; setae of anal proleg and anal shield are named according to DUGDALE (1961); seta on the first seven abdominal segments is called L4 following DUGDALE (1961). Individual segments of thorax and abdomen are briefly referred to as T1 to T3 and A1 to A10 respectively.

Although the papilionid fauna has been well investigated in Southeast Asia, those of certain areas still remain uninvestigated. One of the good examples is found in the mountainous region where meet northern Thailand, eastern Burma, northern Laos and southern Yunnan. The remarkable new form of Bhutanitis lidderdalii ATKINSON to be described in the following lines can be regarded as a beautiful illustration of this situation.

In this paper we will describe a new species of the genus Conistra HUBNER from Formosa based on three specimens captured on Mt. Alishan (2,100m). This new species apparently belongs to the typical section of the genus and is a sole representative of Conistra from Formosa at present.

During a survey of the microlepidopterous fauna of Ishigaki Island, the Ryukyu Islands, in 1978, I discovered three apparently undescribed species of Glyphipterix to be described and figured in this paper. No records have so far been made on the fauna of the Glyphipterigidae sensu stricto of Ishigaki Island. The type-series will be deposited in the collection of the Zoological Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Meijo University.

The holotypes designated herein are all to be preserved in the Osaka Museum of Natural History.

During a collecting trip to Mindanao, the Philippines, a series of Parantica dannatti different from the nominate subspecies was captured. Although the locality of the nominate subspecies was given by TALBOT only as the Philippines, possibly Mindanao, specimens obtained on Mt. Apo of southeastern Mindanao accord well with his description. The specimens from northeastern Mindanao to be dealt with in this paper are evidently different from them and are regarded as a new subspecies of P. dannatti. Danaus apoxanthus CLENCH, 1958, described from Mt. Apo should be regarded as a synonym of the nominated subspecies of P. dannatti.

Danaidae collected on Ambon Island, Indonesia, are reported with some observations on the seasonal variation. The following results have been obtained from this study: 1) E. climena melina GODORT, another subspecies of E. climena climena CRAMER, is not likely to be distributed there. 2) The specimens recognized as a subspecies of latifasciata WEYMER were newly recorded there. The new one, two males and a female, have a pair of very long grey-white stripes in parallel in space lb on the undersisde of forewings. This unique characteristic is absent not only in other Euploea but also in other subspecies of latifasciata in Sulawesi and north Moluccas. For this reason, this might be regarded as an independent species, but further study is required for the final decision.
