In order to mechanize the planting operations for sugar cane, an experimental feeding mechanism of two buds-seedcane was developed and the mechanism was examined the performances for practical use. The results obtained are as follows.
1) The higher feeding performance of the seedcane was obtained under the feeding roll speed of 8-16rpm, when the ratio of the feeding times of 6-10 pieces/3s was about 60%.
2) The proper gap between two rolls was about 1.5cm (this gap is equivalent to about 80% of the diameter of the stem) under the proper feeding pieces of 150-180 pieces/min.
3) The proper number of the shaking times of the shaking plate was 60-70 times/min, when the ratio of the feeding times of 6-10 pieces/3s was above 60%.
4) The higher filling performance of the seedcane into the groove of the delivery conveyor was obtained under the delivery conveyor speed of 8, 10, 12cm/s (the planting speed of 40, 50, 60cm/s, respectively), when the feeding roll speed was 10, 12, 14rpm, respectively.
5) The filling ratio of the seedcane (ratio of one seedcane 94-96%, zero seedcane 2-4%, plural seedcane 1-2%) was obtained under the delivery conveyor speed of 8-12cm/s (the feeding roll speed of 10, 12, 14rpm, respectively). This experimental feeding mechanism is of much practical use.
