This is a study on the forms of the square in the feudal age Edo. Firstiy, the author presents the idea that the square in the feudal age is able to be classified into two types, the one is dominated type square which functions as one of the spatial medium by which the feudal lord side dominates the Gemeinde, and the other is self-contained tyep square which functions as an important spatial medium by which the members of the Gemeinde communicate personally and spirituay each other, and the latter type is able to be classified as three types, nucleus, quasi-nucleus, and local type.
And secondly, tempering above mentioned functional viewpoint with the spatial character of the original space by which squre is mediated, the author presents some sub-types of the square and tries to study some of them. They are as follows:
    1. shaji keidai monzen gata the fronts and the precincts of the shrines and the temples
    2. kosatsuba gata areas around the notice-board which is set by the feudal lord side to dominate the Genzei nde
    3. doro gairo gata street
    4. gaikunai chictei gata courtyard place which in surrounded by the street
    5. kashiya danchi chu tei gata courtyard place which is surrounded by the houses to let
    6. masugata seidamari gata military open square

In previous report, studies on Space Organization of Hieizan-Enryakuji Temple Area……analysis for landscape composition based on visual experience, characteristic of human behavior for visual object in landscape was discussed to recognize interdependence between man and his physical environment through analysis for landsdape composition.
As the method, visual zone and recognition distance were chosen and visual zone map was made with consideration of sequeucial experience for space based on human movement.
In this study, visual zone map as projected model of pattern was replaced to visual volume of the object and then was searched for interdependence between recognition distance. Moreover, it was tried to formulate as mathematical model.

This study intends to research principles of environmental design in historic spots those are regarded important on historic sciences in old Japan, especially before VIth century.
Following facts are resulted from interview surveys of surrounding inhabitants and visitors of Heijo Old Palace where Yamato government was in VIIth century.
From more 1, 000 inhabitants' survey, historic park is agreed by three quarters of them, but almost same population insists to introduce recreational facilities into there; and more 700 users shhw same tendency in above problem.
Preservation of Heijo is pointed by classes of high class education, of adult and of people who have social job or visit here with long distant tour.
As results, it is judged that designs in Heijo should keep two elements of historic preservation and re creational arranement, for the purpose of construction and maintenance of Heijo; otherwise they may fail to preserve Heijo with concerning human habitation.
Above two elements would be studied with attached plans by Nara city Government, Kyoto University, Nara Cultural Tresure Institute and the writer.

In this investigation, there were two purposses.
    The one was a study on the lateral distribution of the deposited materials of tree in crossing road, and the other was the inflrences on the photosynthetic mechanism of the street trees of air pollution. The results obtained are as follows;
    1. Total, ash, and tar deposited matehials of twenty camphor tree leaves decreased ordinally with the distances from crossing road. However, iead contents increaded.
    2. Ash, tar, and burning materials were correlated to total materials positively. Lead was correlated to ash materials negatively.
    3. A part of tar materials was ascertained as gasoline by gas-chromatography.
    4. Photosynthetic and respirational mechaniem of the street trees leaves were influenced.
i In the washed normal leaf, respirator' was more vigorously.
ii Photosynthetic activity was ordinally changed as follows; washed normal leaf>normal leaf>washed polluted leaf>polluted leaf, Their ration were 3: 2: 1.2: 1

The experiments were carried out on the cotting of wild trees and shrubs.
Cutting was made June, July and September, 1967 and July, August and September, 1970 in the open-air cutting bed.
In these experiments, 10 kinds of wild trees and shrubs showed favourable results in rooting, and 13 kinds showed a little rooting.
On the other hand, 8 kinds were hard to root.
