The aim of this study is to analyze the organic relationships between the riverscape and human behaviors using the interview survey.
On the process, pictures of riverscape were prepared in several cases and we recognized that they mean the space behavioral characteristics relating to the changes of viewpoints, changes of distance from the viewpoints to the objective point and the colar changes of the structure in pictures.
Some multiple regression analysis methods (quantification-first family-, cluster analysis and direct varimax method) were adapted to the case studies.

In this study I tried to make clear the manners of the flower-viewing as the people's recreation in Edo at the last days of the Tokugawa regime.
The distinctive manners as found in the Folwer-viewing above mentioned are the pageant, the disguise and the farce. The pageant consisted of dressed-up pupils accompanied by their parents and teachers. They marched in a procession to the famous places of flowers as Ueno, Mukojima and Asukayama showing their group power. Some people went out for the flowerviewing wearing a mask or a specisl magical hat. Some people disguised themselves and played farces or funy behaviors creating laugter. Frequentry funny persons in disguise walked with the pupils.
It is considerd that the flower-viewing brougt a moment when everyone could become both a performance and a spectator. The people enjoyed playing a differant personality which was permitted to ordinary rules. A sense of reverse to the usual value and public order is recognized in the pageant, the disguise and the farce.
Accordingly it is concluded that the flower-viewing was a recreation in which the imaginations of the people were reveald in the dramatic form and the place of flowers was a space for the transcend and laugter.

The rhizosphere soils of Zelkova serrata planted in highway Interchanges were srveyed cubically to know the reason why the trees go unhealthy.
    The result shows following tendency.
    1) The healthy trees have soft soils in underlayer and no overhumid injury.
    2) The unhealthy trees are injured with the remaining water in surface and root bowl because the poor water permeable soils are existed in underlayer.
    3) Many of soils are compacted though the health of tree is not so poor. From all of these results, the importance of the soil amentment to improve the physical properties are also recognized even though in the road landscaping area.

In order to explain the relation between the growth of mondo grass (Ophiopogon japonicus Ker. forma nanus hort.) and relative light intensity (RLI), mondo grass was grown under 6 degrees of the RLI...100% (full sunlight), 71%, 56%, 32%, 19% and 7%. The results are as follows.
    1) Mondo grass grew best under the RLI of 56%. Under the RLI of 100%, 71%, 32% and 19%, its growth was a little inferior to that under the RLI of 56%. Under the RLI of 7%, its growth was remarkably inferior to the other plots, but it didn't stop its growth.
As the RLI was lower, the ratio of top dry weight to root dry weight (T/R) became larger.
    2) The leaves of mondo grass turned yellow green and some of them died of sunburn under the RLI of 100% and 71%. As the RLI was lower, the leaves turned dark green.

In this report, I introduced the design of 1?way Bikeway on the Michigan State University campus.
I heard that the purpose of the 1-way Bikeway on the M. S. U. campus is to keep the impact of the Bikeway on the landscape to a minimum, and to keep speeds lower for rider's safe.
Also, I've heard and appreciated that it has some good points:
    1) it's possible to plan the route which rider can contact with trees and shrubs more friendly,
    2) it's possible to prevent from cutting a big tree in the wooded area by the excellent route planning with a narrow bike-way; and so on.
I feel in Japan 1-way Bikeway has not been constructed, however I think it should be appreciated the good points enough and applicated considering Japanese conditions.
