As a basic study about prevention of infection within a hospital, the authors attempted to isolate Ps. aeruginosa, Staph, aureus and other pathogens from the surface of the inside and the outlets of bath-tubs, waste water after bathing, faces of newborn babies, nurse's hands and air in the neonatal room. And bacteriological studies about disinfection for the above pathogens were also carried out.
The results obtained were as follows.
    1. Ps. aeruginosa, Staph, aureus, Gram-positive cocci and Gram-negative bacilli were isolated in higher concentration from the surface of the inside of bath-tubs than in waste water after bathing.
From the above results the possibility of bacterial transmission through the mediation of bath-tubs among newborn babies in the neonatal room was considered serious. Therefore, it is necessary that disinfection of bath-tubs contaminated by pathogens should be carried out once per each newborn baby after each bathing.
    2. Judging from the reliability of bactericidal effects and from the point of view of expense, the using of boiling water (above 70℃) as a disinfectant is the most suitable method.
    3. It seemed that disinfection of the nurse's hands, the sponge and brushes for cleaning the bath-tubs and hands should also be carried out for every newborn baby.

In 517 Japanese girls, image of the breast was measured using Osgood's Semantic Differential Technique and a Body Image Scale (BIS), of our own design.
Subjects ranged in age from 18-27 (mean 19.77). The image of the breast was viewed from the standpoint of "emotional-evaluative-centered" . Various descriptive adjectives were made available. Between the 18 year-old and the 22 year-old group, significant differences were seen in only 5/38 modifiers.
Breast cancer is the fifth leading cause of death among Japanese women. In 1976, the ratios for breast, gastric and uterine cancer were 5.9/100.000, 34.3/100.000, 10.3/100.000, respectively. Nevertheless, since 1950 when the rate for breast cancer was 3.3/100.000 there has been an increase while the number of patients with uterine cancer decreased during the same period. Such being the case, the number of women subjected to mastectomy is on the increase. Japanese women are usually slight in build, have little adipose tissue, and until recent years wore a Kimono type national dress which more or less flattened the breast. However, with the advent of technology and the introduction of western fashions, the breast area has become a focus of increasing attention. Psychological problems following mastectomy will be ever on the increase and appropriate methods of approach in coping with these potential situations should be given attention.

As the cerebrovascular accident caused by hypertension recently increased in Japan to become one of the major mortalities, such a great risk has been studied much to detect hypertension on the earlier stage and to prevent them, to avoid the cerebrovascular mortality for expansion of the life span.
Public health nurses there only provide the adult people guidance to the medical treatment and the health self-care program by making consultation of hypertension since now.
Author has studied the health evaluation about the "borderline" type of blood pressure (max. 140-159, or; and min, 90-95mmHg) from the data of the adult health consultation, 1976 in an agricultural district of Ichihara city. By re-analyzing such 96 cases of "borderline" type and their follow-up data of 1976-1979, the cases regarded as the group of "pre-hypertension-stage", the cases of which 20-30% yearly become to the true hypertension group without any clinical manifestations, should be controlled under the direction of public health nurses.
Public health nurses' administration on the "borderline" type, is much more important than the cases of "true" hypertension group which need the ordinary medical administration in the medical field.
