Authors participated in the XXIst CIOSTA Congress held at Berkshire College of Agriculture, Reading, UK in September 1982. About eighty colleagues attended the Congress from nineteen countries in and outside of Europe. The presentations on agricultural management systems developed with the micro-computer were the most principal subjects and they reached nearly thirty-five papers. The reports relating to ergonomics and safety were about fifteen and they also had others about farm structures planning and automatic control devices of farm machinery.
Before attending the CIOSTA Congress, one of authors, Sakai, visited three Institutes in FRG, The Netherlands and UK, investigating the recent research activities on the development of human and materials energy-saving techniques in agriculture (Table 1).
