Holographic interferometric technique by a general double-exposure method has been used to measure the deformation of many kinds of things. A specific optical system as a kind of application of this technique is devised to measure only vertical deformation of dental impression materials. The results of the measurement of the time dependence of one directional deformation during or after the vulcanization of four kinds of elastomer impression materials are shown. These results show clearly that this technique is very useful for the analysis of deformation of dental impression materials.

A method of signal processing for photon correlation LDV is described. In the correlation method velocity and its fluctuation are determined from Fourier spectrum of autocorrelation function. This paper is concerned with a data processing method of improving the resolving power of velocity which is limited by the doppler ambiguity. The method is to make a simple compensation for the autocorrelation function and the resolution is improved by a factor of about 2. Experimental results which are obtained from rotating rubber disk by using a signal processing system composed of digital correlator and microcomputer are also shown. And the improvement in resolving power of velocity has been confirmed experimentally.

To measure the microtremor of the ground, a 50 meter modified Fabry-Perotinterferometer has been installed in an underground tunnel in the Nagatsuta Campus of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. It is illuminated by a thermally stabilized single mode 633nm He-Ne laser. Only one of the axial modes is excited by using three mode-matching lenses. The length of the interferometer is controlled to satisfy its resonance condition by using a piezoelectric translator (PZT) mounting a reflection mirror. The applied voltage to the PZT is almost proportional to the amplitude of the microtremor. The conversion accuracy is about 2x10

The amplified spontaneous emissim (ASE) characteristics of the Kr F laser excited by an axially injected electron-beam have been studied with the fixed mixing gas ratio of Kr: F2: He=8: 0.2: 91.80 and the total gas pressure of 1-4 atm. The maximum efficiency (the conversion ratio from the pumping energy to the ASE energy) of 1.7% was obtained for the total gas pressure of 4 atm and the average pumping power density of 6.2 MW/cm
3. Maximum ASE energy of 7.4 J was obtained.
