THEY FIND THAT THE PATTERN OF VERTICAL LAND USE MIXTURE OF HIGH RISE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS SHOULD BE DESCRIBED AS A THREE TIERS RATHER THAN THE CONVENTIONAL TWO TIERS FRAMEWORK. THEY ALSO IDENTIFY THAT MANY CURB-CUT HAS BEEN MADE BY THE DEVELOPMENT OF MIXED USE BUILDINGS AND CONCLUDE THAT YOU NEED TO CO-ORDINATE THE PARKING SPACES AND TO REORGANIZE THEIR ACCESS WAYS AND NARROW ROADS IN THE BLOCK VIA SOME LOCAL DETAILED PLANNING.

THE TRADITIONAL EQUILIBRIUM MODEL DEALS WITH EXTREME CONDITIONS FROM A BEHAVIORAL VIEW POINT IN THE SENSE THAT ALL ROUTES UTILIZED BETWEEN EACH 0-D PAIR MUST HAVE THE SAME ROUTE COSTS, AND ROUTES WITH HIGHER COSTS ARE NEVER USED. SUCH CONDITIONS ARE VERY SIMPLISTIC AND NOT SUPPORTED BY THE RANDOM UTILITY THEORY. THIS STUDY FOCUSES ON A TRIP MAKER'S ROUTE CHOICE BEHAVIOR ON A ROAD NETWORK. THEY ARE THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER TO ASSAY THE DRIVER'S ROUTE CHOICE BEHAVIOR BY MAPPING OUT METHOD, AND TO COMPARE THE STOCHASTIC NETWORK EQUILIBRIUM MODEL PROPOSED BY FISK WITH THE PROBABILISTIC TRAFFIC ASSIGNMENT METHOD PROPOSED BY DIAL.

A NUMBER OF TECHNIQUES FOR EVALUATING A LEVEL OF SERVICE ON ROAD NETWORK SYSTEM HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED. THE EEVALUATION METHOD USING THE MAXIMUM NETWORK FLOW IS ONE OF THEM AND HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO PRACTICAL PROBLEMS AT TIMES. THIS IS PAPER PRESENTS A NEW METHOD, IN WHICH THE MAXIMUM NETWORK FLOW CAN BE OBTAINED BY THE PROCEDURE OF INCREMENTAL ASSIGNMENT SETTING A LIMIT TO THE MAXIMUM FLOW BY THE DEGREE OF SATISFACTION ON TRAVEL TIME, AND SHOWS SOME APPLICATIONS TO KANAZAWA URBAN AREA AS A CASE STUDY. THIS PROPOSED METHOD IS COMPARED WITH THE CONVENTIONAL ONE USING DEGREE OF TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN ORDER TO KNOW THE RELATIVITY OF THOSE METHODS.

BUT, THEY ARE NOT USEFUL TO ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ROAD NETWORKS AND LAND USE OR LOCATION OF MAJOR FACILITIES, BECAUSE THEY ONLY SHOW THE PROPERTY OF NETWORKS AS A WHOLE. THEREFORE, WE PROPOSE NODE DISTANCE DISTRIBUTION(N.D.D). THIS PAPER ALSO SHOWS THAT N.D.D IS MORE SENSITIVE THAN β OR γ TO THE CHANGE OF NETWORK IN MANY POINTS OF VIEW. FINALLY, THREE CITIES (OITA, URUSAN, FUKUOKA) ARE ANALYZED USING N.D.D AS EXAMPLES.

EVALUATION OF ROAD NETWORK IS IMPORTANT IN ROAD ARRANGEMENT PLANNING. THIS STUDY AIMS TO DEVELOP THE METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF LINK COMPOSING A ROAD NETWORK. THE SIGNIFICANCE IS CONSIDERED ON THE BASIS OF TRAVEL DEMAND AND NETWORK CONSTITUTIONS;ROOT, LINK AND OD-PAIR. FIVE INDICES FOR REPRESENTING THE SIGNIFICANCE, RELATED TO ROOT VOLUME, ROOT DISTANCE, LINK VOLUME, LINK VELOCITY AND NODE HIERARCHY, ARE PROPOSED. SEVERAL SIMULATIONS REVEAL THE INTERESTING NATURE OF THESE INDICES. AN APPLICATION TO THE FUKUOKA CITY REGION ENABLES TO EXTRACT SIGNIFICANT LINKS AND TO EVALUATE THE ALTERNATIVES.
