SECOND, WE ANALYZE THE PATTERNS OF THE ANNUAL TRIP GENERATION WITH TRIP ATTRIBUTES; THE SOCIO ECONOMICS, THE NUMBER OF RECREATIONAL TRIP GENERATION AND SO ON. IN THIS PAPER,THIS LOS CONSISTS OF, LEVEL OF SPEED, ROAD GUIDANCE INFORMATION, ACCESSIBILITY TO RECREATIONAL SPOT, PARKING FACILITY, AND LANDSCAPE ALONG THE ROAD. URBAN REDEVELOPMENT PLANS ARE OFTEN RESTRICTED BY THE SHORTAGE OF ROAD NETWORK CAPACITY. VIEWING THIS POINT IN REVERSE GIVES US THE POSSIBILITY OF MEASURING THE EFFECT OF ROAD NETWORK IMPROVEMENT IN TERMS OF THE VALUE OF AVAILABLE SPACE PRODUCED BY ITS IMPROVEMENT. THE MODEL PRESENTED IN THIS PAPER IS A MIXTURE OF A USUAL MAXIMUM ROAD NETWORK CAPACITY MODEL AND A HERBERT-STEVENS TYPE LAND USE ALLOCATION MODEL. THE MODEL IS APPLIED TO ESTIMATE THE EFFECT OF A ROAD IMPROVEMENT PLAN PROPOSED IN MATSUYAMA CITY.

THE ROAD NETWORK CAPACITY IS DEFINED AS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF VEHICLE TRIPS WHICH CAN BE LOADED ON THE ROAD NETWORK UNDER THE RESTRICTIONS OF FIXED TRAVEL DEMAND PATTRN AND THE LINK CAPACITY. IN THIS PAPER, WE DISCUSS THE INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ROAD NETWORK AND LAND USE CONSIDERING THE ROAD NETWORK CAPACITY. THE INCREMENTAL ASSIGNMENT SIMULATION TECHNIQUE WAS APPLIED, IN WHICH SMALL AMOUNTS OF VEHICLE TRIPS ARE GRADUALLY LOADED TO THE NETWORK UNTIL TRAFFIC VOLUME REACHES ITS CAPACITY. ESTIMATION OF ROAD NETWORK CAPACITY IS INVESTIGATED AT THREE DIFFERENT ROAD NETWORK STRUCTURES AND SIX DIFFERENT LAND USE PATTERNS.

THE PAPER PRESENTS AN EVALUATION METHOD OF AN INTERCITY ROAD NETWORK TAKING INTO ACCOUNT DRIVING COMFORT OF ROADS. TO ESTABLISH THE METHOD, WE USED RESULTS OF PREFERENTIAL QUESTIONS BETWEEN HYPOTHETICAL SITUATIONS OF ROADS RELATED TO TIME, COST AND DRIVING COMFORT. FURTHERMORE, THE TIME CONVERSION FACTOR OF THE COMFORT WAS ESTIMATED BY CALIBRATING PARAMETERS OF THE LOGIT TYPE MODEL. FINALLY, USING THE PHYCOLOGICAL TRAVEL TIME, THE EVALUATION METHOD WAS APPLIED TO THE INTERCITY ROAD NETWORK IN THE TOHOKU DISTRICT. AS A RESULT, THE CITIES IN THE TOHOKU DISTRICT WERE CLASSIFIED INTO FOUR GROUPS ACCORDING TO THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COMFORT OF THE INTERCITY ROADS.

TWO PHASE TRAFFIC ASSIGNMENT METHOD IS DEVELOPED FOR ESTIMATING ROAD NETWORK FLOW IN THE LOCAL CITY WITH PASSING TRAFFIC. THE PROPORTION OF TRIPS OF SPECIFIC OD PAIRS TO TOTAL LINK TRAFFIC VOLUME IS USED AS THE CLASSIFICATION BASIS. THROUGH THE APPLICATION TO THE NETWORK IN SAIJO CITY, THE FUNCTIONAL HIERARCHY OF THE EXISTING ROAD NETWORK SHOULD BE IMPROVED SO THAT THE MAIN DISTINCTION IS MADE AMONG PRIMARY, DISTRICT AND LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR ROADS.

A VARIETY OF IDEAS FOR FUTURE URBAN DEVELOPMENT WHICH INTEND TO PROMOTE MULTI-LEVEL SPACE USE HAVE APPEARED TO MEET THE POSSIBLE FURTHER CONCENTRATION OF POPULATION AND ACTIVITIES IN URBAN AREA. EXCESSIVE MULTI-LEVELING, HOWEVER, RESULTS IN INCREASE OF VERTICAL MOVEMENT WHICH REQUIRES MORE TIME/ENERGY PER UNIT DISTANCE THAN HORIZONTAL. THIS PAPER DEALS WITH AN OPTIMAL THREE-DIMENSIONAL URBAN FORM MINIMIZING NECESSARY TIME/ENERGY FOR TRANSPORTATION (I.E. MAXIMIZING COMPACTNESS) USING A 3D URBAN FORM MODEL. IT IS FOUND THAT THE ASSUMPTION OF MOVEMENT VIA GROUND LEVEL MAKES OPTIMAL FORM DISPERSAL, WHEREAS THE ASSUMPTION OF DIRECT CONNECTION AT EACH LEVEL, WHICH COULD BE REALIZED RATHER BY UNDERGROUND SPACE UTILIZATION, MAKES IT COMPACT.

THROUGH THE COMPARISON WITH TOKYO, IT IS FOUND THAT AT THE SAME STAGE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, THE INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPLY LEVEL IN BANGKOK IS MUCH LOWER THAN THAT IN TOKYO. MEANWHILE THE LACK OF LAND USE CONTROL CONTRIBUTES TO MAKE INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPLY MORE DIFFICULT. THE OBJECTIVE OF PRESENT STUDY IS TO FORMULATE THE PLANNING APPROACH TO THE CONCEPTION OF REGIONAL PLAN OF THE PRESERVATION OF LARGE-SCALE HISTORIC MONUMENTS AND THE ACTIVE UTILIZATION OF THEIR SURROUNDING AREAS IN NORTHERN THAILAND. ALTHOUGH LARGE-SCALE HISTORIC REMAINS COULD BE FOUND NOT ONLY IN THAILAND BUT ALSO IN SEVERAL OTHER ASIAN COUNTRIES, THE STRATEGIES OF THEIR PRESERVATION AND THOSE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR SURROUNDING AREAS HAVE NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED YET. THIS HAS BECOME A PRESSING ISSUE IN ALL THESE COUNTRIES. CONSIDERING THIS SITUATION, THE FURTHER IMPROVEMENT OF LARGE-SCALE HISTORIC SITES AND PLANNING STRATEGIES OF THEIR SURROUNDING AREAS IN THESE ASIAN COUNTIES WILL BE STUDIED IN PRESENT RESEARCH THROUGH THE CASE STUDY OF SUKHOTHAI WHERE THE FIRST KINGDOM EXISTED IN THE HISTORY OF THAILAND.

IT MAY REDISTRIBUTE OWERNERSHIP OF RESIDENTIAL LAND, BECAUSE THE ACT OVERBURDENS THE EXCESSIVE LAND OWERNERS. HOWEVER, IT MAY INCUR THE UNINTENDED IMPACTS AS THE SUBDIVISION OF HOUSING LOTS AND REDUCTION OF HOUSING SUPPLY. THIS PAPER AIMS TO STUDY IMPACTS CAUSED BY URBAN RESIDENTIAL LAND CEILING ACT, METHODS TO CONNECT THE HOUSING ACQUIREMENT OF THE MIDDLE CLASSES. IN THIS PAPER WE COMPARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RELOCATION OF DWELLING OF THE CITIES EACH OTHER. THE VACANT DETACHED HOUSES IN TOKYO OR OSAKA BRING FEW RESIDING, THOUGH THE CONDOMINIUMS ARE RESIDED. BOTH OWNED AND RENTED HOUSES IN KAWASAKI AND CHIBA INDICATE HIGH MOVE-IN RATIO IN SPITE OF LITTLE RATE OF RELOCATION IN THE SAME CITY. CONDOMINIUMS IN YOKOHAMA AND KOBE HAVE BEEN RESIDED NOT ONLY FROM OUTSIDE OF BUT IN THE CITY. KYOTO AND NAGOYA HAVE LOW MOVE-IN RATIO AND NOT RENTERS BUT OWNERS ARE LIKELY TO PURCHASE OWNED HOUSE. IN FUKUOKA AND KITAKYUSHU, RENTERS ARE LIKELY TO GET CONDOMINIUMS AND THEN THE VACANT RENTED HOUSES HAVE OTHER RENTERS.

SO, IN THIS STUDY, THE MODE OF APPEARANCE OF COLOR, WHICH IS PERCEIVED AS DIFFERENT COLORS IN SOME CONDITIONS, IS ADOPTED TO ANALYZE TOWNSCAPE. BY ANALYZING SOME CHARACTERISTIC TOWNSCAPES, MANY KINDS OF MODES OF APPEARANCE ARE OBSERVED, AND IT IS CLEARED THAT A CITY HAS A CHARACTER IN THE MODE OF APPEARANCE AS WELL AS IN COLOR. THEN I ASSORTED THE DATA OF EACH SECTION AND ANALYZED HEIGHTS CONTROL ON CONTER LEVEL IN DWELLING PLACE. AS THE RESULT, I HAVE FOUND SOME OBSTRUCTION DISTRICT OF TOWNSCAPE IN HISTORICAL CITIES. HEREAFTER, THIS STUDY COMMENTS ON NECESSARY TO TAKE NOTICE OF VISUAL ANALYSIS ON TOWNSCAPE PRESERVATION BY CONTROL LINE METHOD FOR IN THE CASE OF REZONING OF LAND USE DISTRICT AND PRESERVATION AREA.

本論文はバンコク都心のラタナコーシン島保全地区について、地区の特徴のひとつである店舗併用の連続住宅、いわゆるショップハウスの概要とその保全のための問題点を論じたものである。バンコクのショップハウスの形式は1861年にシンガポールから輸入されたこと、全ショップハウスの72.9%が現在も商住併用であること、1992年に施行されたショップハウスのデザインガイドラインによって今後市街地開発の形態が影響を受けるであろうことを示した。また、ケーススタディとしてバムルンムアン通りの181戸について現況調査をおこない、当初の形態をとどめたショップハウスは17%、ファサードに小規模の変更がなされたものは33%であること、ショップハウスの所有者のうち保全地区に指定されていることを知っていたものは64%、デザインガイドラインの存在を知っていたものは19%等を示した。

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS TO EXAMINE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POLICIES OF FARMLAND PRESERVATION AND OPEN SPACE PLANNING IN MASSACHUSETTS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE PURCHASE OF FARMLAND DEVELOPMENT LIGHT PROGRAM HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE FOR THE STATE AND COMMUNITY OPEN SPACE PLANS AS AN METHOD OF PRESERVING RURAL LANDSCAPES. BUT INCREASINGLY HIGHER LAND PRICES AND SHORTAGE OF THE STATE BUDGET ARE GREAT PROBLEMS. IMPORTANCE OF CONSERVATION LAND TRUSTS WAS DISCUSSED FOR SOLVING THESE PROBLEMS.

IT WAS FINANCED BY PARK LOAN FUND. BASED ON CHARLES ELIOT'S PLAN CALLED SCIENTIFIC PARK SYSTEM, BOSTON METROPOLITAN PARK SYSTEM WAS DEVELOPED EXTENSIVELY, AND BECAME A PIONEERING PROJECT OF THE REGIONAL PLANNING.

THEN, ONE MEANING HAS THE ‘BINOMINAL-OPPOSITIONAL’ RELATION TO OTHERS UNDER THE INSTITUTION OF ITEMS; ORDERLY/DISORDERLY, MONO-SEMANTIC/BI-SEMANTIC AND TIME/TIMELESS. USING THIS MODEL AND LEGEND ANALYSIS METHOD PROPOSED BY DR.L.STRAUSS, IT WAS UNDERSTOOD THE WATERFRONT LEGENDS THAT WERE GATHERED IN THE KOHOKU AREA SHOWED WHICH PSYCHO. AREA THE PLACE APPEARED IN THE LEGEND WAS BELONGED TO, AND THE WATERFRONT LEGENDS HAVE THE FUNCTION CHANGING MEANINGS OF THE PLACES. ESPECIALLY, WHEN THAT FUNCTION WAS USED FOR THE WATERFRONT, WE UNDERSTOOD THAT WAS THE BOUNDARY, AND THEY HAD DESIRE TO MAKE THE BOUNDARY AREA INCLUDED TO THEIR OWN INSIDE.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO PROPOSE THE NEW CONCEPTS , WHICH ARE BASED ON LAKOFF'S I.C.M.(IDEALIZED COGNITIVE MODEL) AND LEWIN'S THEORIES ON LIFE-SPACE, FOR URBAN DESIGN. THE MOST VALUABLE ONE OF PROPOSES IS THE DEFFINITION OF ANCHOR-ELEMENTS. ANCHOR-ELEMENTS ARE THE PROTOTYPES OF MANY ELEMENTS IN A STRATA-LEVEL OF LIFE-SPACE, AND THE LINKAGE BONDS WHICH TIES THE STRATA TO A UPPER STRATA-LEVEL OF LIFE-SPACE. AND IT IS PROVED THAT NEIGHBOURHOOD FUNCTIONS AS THE FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL OF LIFE-SPACE. THEN AS A CASE STUDY, THE AUTHOR IDENTIFIES ANCHOR-ELEMENTS, AND CHECKS UP THE FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL OF LIFE-SPACE. AT LAST THE PROCESS OF DESIGNING IS BROUGHT FOWARD.
