The relaxation time
T1D of dipolar energy of proton spins in some ammonium salts has been compared with the relaxation time
T1ρ measured in the rotating frame. We have found, in contradiction to the usual relation, that
T1D is larger than
T1ρ. The unusual relation between
T1D and
T1ρ might be attributed to the inter-molecular interaction among NH
4-ions and is not due to the effect of the tunneling motion of NH
4-ion.
