    Optical consistency between the real world and virtual objects is an important issue in augmented reality (AR). We propose a method to estimate illumination from an object shadow and incomplete object shape information captured by an RGB-D camera. The environmental illumination can be estimated without any prior knowledge of the object shape. The radiance of each light source is computed by solving linear equations derived from color and depth images. Since prior knowledge of the object shape is not necessary, we can flexibly use/combine any objects. Thus, we can use/combine multiple objects in the target scene to increase the accuracy and flexibility. Our experimental results show the characteristics of our proposed method.

    Holography is an ideal 3D display technique that displays beautiful 3D images. However, it presents some difficulties, one of which is how to capture images under natural light. The holographic stereogram solves this problem, but it requires a large number of pictures that are captured from various directions with narrow durations. Therefore, this paper proposes a new capturing method that uses a small number of multi-view images and a method that creates holograms from the images. The methods are based on estimating the three-dimensional shape of the target objects and generating intermediate images. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is confirmed by computer simulations and optical experiments, which show that the reconstructed images are the same quality as holographic stereograms.

    The image quality of the reproduction image can be made excellent with the random dither for Kinoform because the object and the noise separate when applying. However, the device is needed for the algorithm of the random dither because there is a limit in the effect. In this paper, the edge emphasis error diffusion method is applied to Kinoform. The edge emphasis random dither is a method to control the size of the quantization error by moving the starting point on the complex plane in the appearance according to the complex value that corresponds to Fourier spectrum of the input image. As a result, it was clarified that it was effective for the improvement of the reconstructed image compared with a traditional error diffusion method for Kinoform.

    Computer graphics are now the main tool for making games or motion and physics simulations have become an important tool for generating realistic animation. In general, it is necessary to fine-tune a number of physical parameters in order to reflect the user intention in the results of a physics simulation. Therefore, the reflection of the user's intention is practically very difficult. We focus on a rigid body simulation and address the problem of reflecting an intention on the movements of spattering rigid fragments broken by a simulated explosion. We propose a rigid body animation control method to get the undesired movements of fragments flying toward a camera to actually avoid in an as unobserved as possible way and this paper helps to describe how to control these fragments.
