Tae-Gyun Kim M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology in Yonsei University College of Medicine,Severance Hospital, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He received his M.D. from Yonsei University College of Medicine and completed dermatology residency training at the Department of Dermatology, Yonsei University College of Medicine, Severance Hospital. During his residency training, he investigated immunophenotypes of mature dendritic cells (DCs) in chronic plaque psoriasis, which showed an importance of CCL20/CCR6 chemokine system in mature DC-T cell clusters under supervision of Professor Min-Geol Lee and Professor James G. Krueger. After residency training, he received Ph.D. in Cellular & Molecular Immunology at the Department of Environmental Medical Biology from the same institution. During his Ph.D. course, he found that the epigenetic molecule CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) controls homeostatic maintenance of self-perpetuating immune cell population, such as epidermal Langerhans cells and bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells using conditional knockout system. He was a visiting research fellow in the Lab of Dr. Niroshana Anandasabapathy at Harvard Medical School, where he investigated the tolerance mechanism by migratory DCs of the skin in the context of anti-tumor immunity. In addition, he also studied how tissue-resident memory T cells are maintained and regulated in the skin. In 2021, he was appointed to Assistant Professor (tenured) of the Department of Dermatology, Yonsei University, Severance Hospital.
