(1) The effect of potassium on the size, shape, and carbohydrate accumulation of tubers had been studied in potato plants grown under the various potash supplied conditions. (2) Most striking symptons appeared in the potash differnt plants were the dark green of leaves and color change into yellowish brown at the edge of leaf, where gradually curled down and dried up at last. (3) The more supply of potash gave no remarkable effect on the length/diameter rate of tubers, but those size and yield, however, influenced by the potash increasing such as a slight rise in the percentage of jumbo grade tubers. (4) The starch accumulation in tubers of potash-deficient plants was much less conspicuous than that of the full nutrient plants; on the contrary, the total sugar raised a little in the case of potash starvation. (5) The growth of tubers, and also the starch grains in them was directly proportional to the amount of potash which was added to the soil.
