Succeeding to the previous report (Journal of the Science of Soil and Manure, Nippon Vol. XIV No. 11,P. 703-718) we have studied the correlation between silicic acid and ferric oxide in physiological function for barley and rice plants. In the pots given a large quantity of ferric oxide, the growth and yield of barley plants are decreased, and adding of silicic acid to them takes little effect. In the pots given the proper quantity of ferric oxide, their growth and yield are increased and great effect can be obtained by adding silicic acid to them. In the pots given a small quantity of ferric oxide and non ferric oxide pots, their growth and yield are decreased, but if silicic acid is given to them, the effect is great. Thus we ean recognise that silicic acid is fairly related to ferric oxide in physiological function for barley plants.
