    Emotion Technolology is defined as a translation system of human image into physical design elements. This has been applied to a housing design in terms of a knowledge engineering which is named HULIS. This paper is concerned with an application of Emotion Technology to a costume design and a computer representation implemented in a shell of HULIS.
    A knowledge-base system has a data base of costume design which is applicable just to young women, and it enables to show a graphic picture very similar to client's image in terms of a reasoning engine of knowledge base.

    Characteristics of letter recognition for single letter presentation are already known for evaluation of dotted patterns displayed on CRT. In a real situation of VDT works, VDT operators can use context in visual recognition processes. The purpose of this research is to clarify some characteristics on the recognition process, especially when using context, for displayed patterns. The characteristics on accuracy of processing and recognition time were evaluated.
    For this purpose, two experiments were performed with ten male subjects. In these experiments, two types of upper-case character strings were used as examples of visual information containing context. One is correctly spelled English words, and the other being misspelled words.
    The results of the experiments clarified the effect of displayed pattern on the accuracy of recognition. In addition, the effect of context in the recognition process was also confirmed. For example, in the recognition process using context, one may tend to recognize a misspelled word as a correctly spelled word. Finally, as an application of this research, guidelines of generation of dotted pattern displayed on CRT are proposed.

    It's important to lay hold of body type and form in the basic study of Ergonomics. Methods of clustering body form can develope to the decision of garment size, planning and 3 dimensional body form model required in the apparel industry. Four kinds of clustering forms were given by means of cluster analysis Kmeans method applied to following individual scores.
    (1) Non-normalized component scores on based of correlation matrix.
    (2) Non-normalized component scores on based of variance matrix.
    (3) Canonical scores extracted canonical discriminant analysis.
    (4) Seven normalized measurements.
    The characteristics of these clustering forms were discussed.

    The application of VDT systems into work places in various kinds of working field has rapidly been becoming very common in the past few years. A series of experiments was carried out while using 14 male college students aged from 22 to 23 years old and VDT work to evaluate their information processing ability relating to working hours. As for the results, information processing ability seems to be correlated significantly with the prolongation of working hours done by VDT.

    Information processing systems with computers are widely used not only by computer experts, but also by non-professional users. Therefore, such systems should be designed based on human factors in its operation. For this purpose, this paper proposes a design method for Human-Computer Interaction by applying a visual recognition model proposed in a previous paper for the modeling of human recognition processes. As application examples, the proposed method is used for setting two parameters in the design of a menu retrieval system. Using computer simulation in this method, the search time for two different configurations is estimated, and actual experiments with human subjects are then carried out for confirmation. The usefulness of the method is verified by comparison of these results. In addition, some features of the proposed method are discussed through a comparison with a traditional method based on experiments.
