In order to improve passengers' safety on a railway platform against a train draft, we conducted experiments on the effect of a steady wind and a transient wind on a human body in the Large-scale Low-noise Wind Tunnel, and another one on the effect of a train draft on human body on the platform of a railway station, and then analyzed the dynamic effect of a train draft on the human body.
As to the steady wind, the coefficients of drag,
CDs, of human bodies were estimated for standing position at the angle of 0°, 45°, 90° to the direction of the wind and for squatting position at angle of 0°, 90° to the direction of the wind.
As to the transient wind with speed variation of a triangle shape, the peak of the horizontal component of the ground reaction force was proportional to the square of wind velocity.
By utilizing the response of the ground reaction force against the transient wind with speed variation of a step shape, two dimensional transfer function model of the loading force on human body was identified.
Based on the above-mentioned results, we proposed a rating method of the effect of a train draft on the safety of passengers standing on a railway platform.
