In order to improve passengers' safety on a railway platform against a train draft, we conducted experiments on the effect of a steady wind and a transient wind on a human body in the Large-scale Low-noise Wind Tunnel, and another one on the effect of a train draft on human body on the platform of a railway station, and then analyzed the dynamic effect of a train draft on the human body.
As to the steady wind, the coefficients of drag, CDs, of human bodies were estimated for standing position at the angle of 0°, 45°, 90° to the direction of the wind and for squatting position at angle of 0°, 90° to the direction of the wind.
As to the transient wind with speed variation of a triangle shape, the peak of the horizontal component of the ground reaction force was proportional to the square of wind velocity.
By utilizing the response of the ground reaction force against the transient wind with speed variation of a step shape, two dimensional transfer function model of the loading force on human body was identified.
Based on the above-mentioned results, we proposed a rating method of the effect of a train draft on the safety of passengers standing on a railway platform.

By making use of information entropy, the degree of aesthetical peace of aspect ratio is defined based on the assumption that the degree is expressed by the production of the degree of peace and the degree of beauty which is expressed by the normality or the regularity. It is made clear the golden ratio, silver ratio and platinum ratio, which have been considered as the most visually appealing proportion which shows the most beauty and completeness in the realms of both nature and art, take higher value of the degree of aesthetical peace and the ratio 0.705 at which the degree of aesthetical peace takes the maximum value coincides almost to the silver ratio (Yamato-Hi) 0.707. Additionally, by applying the ratio 0.705 to the mixing of two colors of tri-primary color or black and white colors, the new colors, including gray, which has probability to give the peace of mind to the humans are presented, though it is need to wait for the more quantitative and logical investigate about the relationships between the newly presented colors and the peace of mind of humans. It is expected that these results will give useful information to future industrial design.

Recently, the operation of IT equipment has become complex, due to the multifunctional nature of the equipment. This has created difficulty for elderly people in using the equipment. IT equipment must provide more user-friendly assistance for elderly people. If the number of functions cannot be decreased, then it is necessary to consider decreasing cognitive loads through interface design, in addition to the active assistance-interface. In this study we propose the “assistance method (auditory and visual guidance : dynamic guidance)” by using visual guidance alongside auditory guidance to encourage the user to focus on the relevant display on the screen. A trial of the dynamic guidance was conducted using an ATM system which elderly people find difficult to use. It was clear that the dynamic guidance was effective at the confirmation step and the search step. When the elderly users searched the beneficiary bank and confirmed the beneficiary information, it was shown that operation times were shortened on machines with dynamic guidance. However, when the guidance speed was too fast the elderly felt impatience with the guidance. According to the results, guidelines for an effective dynamic guidance method were proposed.
