Human operator's control algorithm is proposed on manual preview control systems, and the validity of the algorithm is considered experimentally. The algorithm is assumed as follows. Firstly, the human operator predicts an imaginary controlled variable in some time later, for processing the preview reference signal. Secondly, in order to realize the imaginary controlled variable, the manipulated variable is determined according to the present state of the control and the control experience up to the present. Thirdly, the predictive controlled variable is determined so as to minimize the performance function, which is the sum of squares of the error between the preview reference signal and the predictive controlled variable. Based on the control algorithm, the result obtained is that the human operator processes the preview reference signal within the preview time length around 0.2-0.4 sec. The result shows similar to results of other studies. So the validity of the proposed control algorithm of human operator on manual preview control systems is able to be confirmed.
