We often talk about housing industry. The present paper deals with development of housing industry and are considered about conception of European housing. And then the problems of circumstances of Japanese housing are pointed out. As an important method to understand the dwelling system, the flat for experimental work are built and the families dwell in it to upply the experiments for human factors engineering studies. Finally this report come to the that we should siege human life not in the closed system but in the open system interacting conclusion with various lives.

Standardization of living environment should be considered at the age when housing height becomes taller, its density becomes higher and houses are constructed at the factory. Performance of living space which would be standardized is considered as those, size (vertical and horizontal) of living space, interior environment such as temperature, humidity, ventilation, and brightness, and equipment items such as air-conditioning, domestic refusal, kitchen, etc. In this paper as basic measurement of those quality, dimensional co-ordination in man-tool system was analyzed.

Standardization of the furniture for domestic use have an important meaning, combining with industrialization of the housing systems. The present study was attempted to analyze the social and productive phase of furniture in order to systematize of industrial standards for it. And a new method of classifying the furniture in relation to human engineering was proposed. This papers gave into details about the process to decide the dimension of it and arranged the standards about furniture as a list.

It is thinkable that human motions are the concrete presentation of the result estimated quantitatively and qualitatively the information from environment through the sense organ.
In this paper, centering ground human motions in the walking, the author analyse the motions in the various occasions on the parallel continued walls as corridor and pursue the optimum values of the width on a corridor and others.

Survey by mail was made on 31 items concerning the laterality of the arm and the leg in 1500 university students. Computer analysis according to the theory of quantification developed by Dr. C. Hayashi was made on the selected 20 items. Work ability of the arm and the leg was measured separatory for right and left side in volunteers of university personnel.
From these results problems on laterality were elucidated on the following points:
    1) Frequency in use of right and left extremities and related problems
    2) Standard criteria for right and left handedness
    3) Correlation between the laterality of the arm and the leg
    4) Relationship between kinds of work and frequency in use of right and left extremities
    5) Check points for designing the layout of apparatus in relation to laterality
