Bulk emasculation in the use of heat was first developed by Stephens and Quinby (1933) in
Sorghum and later Jodon (1938) has shown to be adoptable this method to rice.
In our experiments, the treatment was applied by immersing panicles in hot water at the temperatures of 42°C to 45°C contained in thermos bottles and allowed to remain 3 to 10 minutes respectively. After about an hour following emasculations by the treatment, immature florets which did not open were removed and cross pollination had been carried out. According to the experimental results, by treatment at 43°C for 8 minutes was given the highest number of florets which opened and were destroyed the viability of pollen in response to treatment and the highest percentage of seed set, showing that this treatmnt probably would be most effective for obtaining hybrid seeds by means of the hot water method.

In the motions of the human tongue there are recognizable some hereditary abnormalities. For the criterion to roll the right and left extremities of the tongue upwards and make a small tunnel the percentage of individuals unable to perform this motion decreases and becomes almost constant about the age of twelve years; 17% in girls and 26% in boys (Table 1).
The hereditary type of this abnormality seems to be a simple Mendelian recessive (Fig. 1 and Table 2).

Female intersexes appeared in two strains of cross breeding in
Homoeogryllus japonicus de Haan in 1940. Breeding experiments of this summer, making various combinations with the individuals of that two strains, revealed that this female intersex comes off by a single dominant gene in the autosome. Zygotic females, heterotypic for this gene, are turned to partake male characters and become sterile. On the other hand, this gene has no effect on the zygotic males.
