Korean and Japanese subjects of younger generation made aesthetic judgments for 24 different kinds of traditional crafts using a rating scale. The results show that for most subjects aesthetic appreciation is specific to their nationality: Their attitude with respect to aesthetic appreciation is found to highly correlate with their location and culture. Factor analysis applied to the results reveal that 3 main factors in Korean image construction are "elaborate-simple", "pleasant-unpleasant", "bold-plain", whereas 3 main factors for Japanese are "quiet-gay", "graceful-unstylish", and "light-heavy".

What should be design evaluation in the design process was proposed. The following conclusion may be drawn from the results of the inquiry: Our claim that design evaluation is cooperative works and our definition of design evaluation that offers designers necessary information to make all sorts of decision was supported. Our assumption that design evaluation is done in the process from the emanation to the astringency in ideas was recognized in the selection of mock-up models and the discussion of idea sketches. However making design concept as the emanation was not recognized. The new ways of design evaluation not only by the Measure using Fuzzy AHP in the selection of mock-up models but also by the Process using Orthogonal Arrays and Quantitication 1 in the discussion of idea sketches that most of designers recognize as design evaluation were proposed. These ways proved effective in design evaluation by case studies.

Quantification of qualitative styling attribute data was used in an exploratory analysis to find groupings among Japanese recreational vehicles and their precursors. Subsequently it was possible to determine trends in the styling of these vehicles and to map the emergence of RVs as a new product group over the fifteen years covered by the samples. The analysis clearly illustrated the progressive expansion of the product range, and appeared to indicate two distinct product groups developing out of a common origin in the generic Jeep type off-road vehicle. These two groups were differentiated by certain 'concept-specific' attributes, yet exhibited common trends in other, 'universal' attributes over the time-span of the data. Additionally, the trends of four major manufactures in this vehicle market were charted. From this the possibility of deriving a representation of the strategic product positioning of these companies by objective analysis was demonstrated.

A number of western architectures were built in various places including the settlements in Japan through the end of Edo into the early Meiji period. The furnitures of the day must have been imported from Europe or China, for example Hong Kong and Shanghai, but those have gradually been producted even in Japan. The aim of this study is to make clear the process of changement of the production technique of the western style furniture in Japan. In this paper, we have given an outline of the building of Mitsui Minato Kurabu built in 1908. Next, we have educed four important tables - round-top, D-shaped-top and two rectangular-top tables - from among 70 furnitures or more in that club, and mainly described the character of production technique by remarking the structure of top board and legs and the way of jointing them. As a result, we have pointed out that the workman could not fully understand the structure of furniture and the properties of wood, and that those furnitures hold an important historical position both in design and in technique.

We have been doubting about that Yokose's potential theory applied Biot-Savart's law by standpoint of electromagnetism. From result of our reappearance experiment, we can not use these formula. Right way to describe the 'Potential' of field is electrostatic field. We, at first, adopted Laplace's differential equation to electrostatic field, and for the numerical calculation of the integral solution of the field, used Green's integral theorem, and boundary elements method. But results of the calculation were not same with that of the former experiments. On the next model, adopting Poisson's differential equation, adding anisotropic charge to the 'Figure' and assuming the field which has inhomogeneous field on the 'Background', we analyzed the new model. As result, we get a new candidate of the approximate formula.
