A new method for quantitation of the serum levels of three classes of human immunoglobulins has been described.
The method is based on the quantitative precipitin reaction. Specific antisera for each class of immunoglobulin have been prepared by means of immunization with heavy chains as antigens.
The immunoglobulin levels in twelve normal Japanese sera were proved to be 15.2±1.7mg/m
l for IgG, 2.4±1.4mg/m
l for IgA and 1.2±0.6mg/m
l for IgM respectively.
