A core performance calculation program has been developed to calculate present and future power distributions. This program is installed in a BWR on-line core management system, named COMS (Core Operation and Management System), which is being developed to meet with demands on plant availability and operation flexibility.
The core performance calculation program consists of a nodal coupling type nuclear-thermalhydrauric model, and is adapted to a current core state, using measured TIP (Traversing Incore Probe) data, by the following two steps: (1) to optimally adjust the selected model parameters, and (2) to extract systematic errors of the model as power correction factors, which depend on control rod positions and string locations.
This adaptation algorithm has been verified through the simulation, where root mean square errors of calculated TIP readings to measured TIP readings are 5% in future prediction and 3% in present estimation.
