Distinct precipitin lines were found in the first fraction of the urine separated with Sephadex G - 50 by agar double diffusion technique and immunoelectrophoresis. These results show that an antigenic substance is being discharged in the urine. The mechanism by which the substance is discharged in urine may be same as that occurring in the urine precipitin reaction in Schistosoma japonicum (Okabe and Tanaka, 1958).

During 5 years from 1966 to 1970, 364 hips (208 CDH and 156 subluxation) in 291infants (47 males and 244 females) less than 12 months of age were treated with Pavlik's bandage. The reduction was failed in 28 dislocated hips in 3 males and 22 females. Follow-up results after 1 to 5years were obtained in 100 CDH and 87 subluxations, being satisfactory in 178 hips (95.7 %) and poor in 3 dislocated hips. Out of 28 unreduced hips, the follow-up results were obtained in 17, being satisfactory in 83 %. The authors concluded that Pavlik's bandage is a reliable method for CDH in young infants and superior to Lorenz's method or Frejka's splint.

This time, on the basis of the classification proposed by the Nomenclature Committee of American Cleft Palate Rehabilitation 223 cases of cleft lip and cleft palate seen at our clinic during 10 years from July 1960 to June 1970 were all classified morphologically. In addition, other congenital malformations associated with clefts were also observed statistically. 1. Though slight, the annual change showed a yearly increase and corresponded to 1.4 % on the average against the total of our outpatients. 2. On sex difference, males affected were 116 cases and females 107 cases. The ratio between them was 1.08: 1. 3. With regard to the form of cleft, unlike other reports cleft lip was most frequent and found in 101 cases (45.9%), next cleft palate in 68 cases (30.9%) and cleft lip and palate in 51 cases (23.2%). In accord with foreign reports, cleft lip and cleft lip and palate were more frequent in males, while cleft palate in females. 4. Facial cleft was seen in 3 cases. They were all transverse facial cleft (males 2, females 1). 5. In 152 cases of cleft lip and cleft lip and palate, cases of unilateral occurrence was about 4.5 times as many as those of bilateral one, and that, left unilateral occurrence was more frequent. Both complete and incomplete clefts on either right or left side were more frequent in males. 6. Based on the aforesaid classification, morphological classification was made in details : a) Cleft of lip was found in 30 of 220 cases in all (13.6%). Incomplete unilateral cleft of lip was 14 times as many as incomplete bilateral one . They were both more abundant in males and there was little difference between the right and left sides. b) Cleft of lip and alveolar process was confirmed in 71 cases (32.2 %). It was more frequent in males and very often left unilateral. c) Cleft palate was found in 68 cases (30.9%) and occurred about 2 times more frequently in females. Morphologically, cleft soft palate was most frequent, amounting to 60.3% of the whole, next cleft soft and hard palate, and cleft uvula in order. d) Clefts of prepalate and palate were found in 51 cases (22.3%) and they were about 1.6 times more frequent in males. Cleft palate with unilateral cleft prepalate was found in 32 cases, about 1.6 times more frequent

A tumor mass developed in the left submucosal region of a 32-year-old woman, which was patho-histologicallly diagnosed as chronic lymphadenitis, was examined with electron microscope. Most of the tumor mass cells constituting the tissue are similar to normal small lymphocytes in appearance, shaped round in usual, the nucleus of which shows round or oval. As characteristic findings, we recognize high nucleo-cytoplasmicratio, uniformity of distribution of chlomatin, and no remarkable nucleolus in the karyoplasm. From the above mentioned findings, it is suggested that the tumor mass indicates merely hyperplasia of said small lymphoid cells.

RI-angioscannography with 131I-MAA was tried while performing bronchial arteriography in lung neoplasm. We demonstrated 4 cases of lung cancer and a case of the lung metastatics of reticulosarcoma, and comment upon the necessity of it. Consequently, the conventional roentgenogram, bronchial arteriography and RI-angioscannography with 131I-MAA in a series could make to improve the diagnosis of lung neoplasm.

A female patient aged 66 years began to show involuntary movement of head at about the age of 40, which aggravated gradually. Impairment of memory and pururitic skin disease appeared since about 60 years. She was admitted to a hospital at the age of 62 under the diagnoses of cerebral arteriosclerosis, hypertension and psoriasis vulgaris. She died from cerebral hemerrhacre 4 years after the admission. Histopathological examination of the brain revealed, in addition to the presence of hemorrhagic foci and hyaline degeneration of arterioles, progressive change of astroglial cells in all over the cerebral cortex as the most cardinal findings : i. e. appearance of Alzheimer type 1 glia, gemistcytic glia, gliarasis and dark stained hypertrophic Bergmann cells. Eosinophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies are found in astroglia and Bergmann cells irrespective of their morphological changes, and occasionally also in nuclei of nerve cells and ventricular ependymal cells. The main constituent of the inclusion bodies was found to be protein in nature and showed argyrophilia. Electron microscopy of the inclusion bodies revealed bundles of fine filaments (60-100Å). No remarkable findings were observed in other visceral organs. The pathogenesis of the disease process remains obscure.

Two cases of male fetishism were interviewed and the process of appearance of perversion and its development were disclosed. The object of fetishism is women's panties in the first example and women's rubber swimming cap in the second example. The generation mechanism of fetishism in both cases seems to be rooted in the background of homosexualism. Though they are both rooted in homosexualism, the first case seems to be causedby the castration anxiety toward authoritative father. While in the second case, the homosexual tendency seems to be derived from the narcissism in the boyhood of a beautiful boy as well as the sensual caress of a cousin. The two cases were not given medical treatment for a special reason.

    (1) This report concerns with the experiments in which EEG being neurophysiological in nature was used as an index of the psychophysiological activities, and it was attempted to obtain a mode of the brain activity and a significance of α rhythms. A part of the role of sensory perception playing in constructing mental process was also studied. (2) Occipital EEG of α dominant man in the sitting position was comparatively investigated when he was at rest, stimulated visually by pictures or letters, orstimulated by visual imagination of which real figure for recalling was seen a few minutes before. Considering from the experimental results, EEG was possible to be an index of psychological processes to some degree. (3) Response of occipital EEG to recalling the visual image of which content was really seen a few minutes before was α acceleration. The continuance of the acceleration was probably dependent upon the capability to maintain the image in mind. No α blocking was usually present after this type of stimulation. (4) Concurrently, β activity was increased and θ activity was frequently decreased, suggesting that the α acceleration was a response specific for visual imagination. When imagination was repeated with adequate intervals the response of α acceleration was taken place on all such occasions. (5) Only acoustic stimulus which commanded to make internal image, the image being not really made at that time, resulted in α blocking or no change but evidently not in α acceleration. Menthol application suggested that the mesencephalic reticular formation might not contribute to the α acceleration. (6) The α acceleration was supposed as an increase in grade of synchronizationin the electro-oscillatory neuronal network in the visual or visual association area, an the synchronization might be a simple response of the network to the increase in frequency of circulating impulses. (7) Brain function was considered by EEG from its operational sideview. Alpha acceleration, one kind of synchronization, was interpreted standing on an idea that α waves scan visual signals. The role of sensory stimulus playing in establishing the internal perceptive world was partly discussed, and its contribution to maintenance of vivid mental process was also suggested.
