JOURNAL FREE ACCESS1. The pepsic digestion is accelerated by the addition of polyvalent anion, while it is inhibited by the addition of polyvalent cation.
2. The optimum hydrogen ion concentration for the action of pepsin is about PH=1.5, and between PH=1.15 and 1.64 there is no considerable difference in the activity.
3. The optimum temperature for the action of pepsin is about 40°C, and the pepsin is almost inactivated at 50°C, after 6 hours•

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSFron the above experimental results, we can summarize the following conclusions:-
(1) The adsorptive capacity of glutinous starch charcoal is always superior to that of common starch charcoal.
(2) The adsorptive capacity of glutinous starch gel is superior to that of common starch gel charcoal.
(3) When glutinous starch solution is co_??_gulated by tannin solution, it needs greater quantity of tannin than common starch solution and in this case, the glutinous starch precipitates discarded a greater quautity of filtrate than common starch. By adding tannin solution, the surface tension of starch solution is decreased gradually with common starch and makes a sudden change with glutinous sturch solution.View full abstractDownload PDF (434K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESS1. The cured fruit prepared by dry and wet processes was studied and d-glucose, d-fructose, pectin and shibu were isolated from the water extract of the pulp.
Sucrose was confirmed by inversion with acid, to exist with other sugars in the fruit.
2. The white powder deposited on the desiccated fruit has been proved to consist of d-glucose and d-fructose only.

JOURNAL FREE ACCESS1. Einseitige Eiweiss-Fettdiät, welche eine deutliche Herabsetzung der Assimilationsfähigkeit für Zucker nach sich zieht, verursacht beim Menschen zumeist eine deutliche Steigerung der Azetonkörper des Blutes. Aber bei Wiederholung der Versuche
mit kurzen Zwischenzeiten wird dieser Anstieg undeutlicher und sogar oft ganz vermisst, während die Herabsetzung der Assimilationskraft für Zucker dabei ebenso stark wie früher zum Vorschein kommt. Beim Hunde ist die Zunahme der Azetonkörper undeutlicher als beim Menschen; hier wird sie sehr häufig ganz vermisst, obwohl die Schädigung der Zuckerassimilation stark in die Erscheinung tritt.
2. Die Alkalireserve wird beim Menschen wie beim Hunde durch Eiweiss-Fettdiät fast gar nicht beeinflusst.
3. Die Alkalizufuhr übt bei kohlenhydratreich wie -arm genährten Hunden keinen bemerkbaren Einfluss auf die Zucker-assimilation aus, obwohl dabei bei gleichbleibendem Azetonkörpergehalte des Blutes eine deutliche Zunahme der Alkalireserve zustande kommt.
4. Nach allen oben erwähnten Befunden glaube ich, dass die Herabsetzung der Assimilationsfähigkeit für Zucker, welche bei kohlenhydratarmer Ernährung zum Vorschein kommt, nicht die Folge der Azidosis ist.View full abstractDownload PDF (447K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSFrom the results of the above surface tension experiments on organic colloidal solution, we summarise as follows:-
The antagonistic action between two salts is caused by a reversal of the surface tension with these colloidal solutions. As I showed in the preface to this paper the reversal of the surface tension is caused by the reversal of dispersion degree and reversal of the aggregation by solvation of these colloidal solutions, and this is therefore the principal physico-chemical reason for the antagonistic phenomenon in colloidal solutions of protoplasma.View full abstractDownload PDF (176K) -
