    1. Die Blausäureinjehtion beim Kaninchen raft Hyperglykämie hervor.
    2. Die durch Elausäureinjektion verursachte Hyperglykämie harm dureli Insulingabe wieder zur Norm oder nosh tiefer herunter gedrücht warden, was man beim normalen Kaninehen beobachtet hat.
    3. Auf Grund dieser Ergebnisse kann man wolil sagen, dass das Insulin nieht der Aktivator der Hexosediphosphatbildung ist.

  • IV. The rôle of thyroid gland in the content of cholesterol in each organ and tissue

    The main results obtained in the foregoing II, III and IV communications, may be summarized as follows.
    1. Under normal conditions the contents of free cholesterol within the animal body is strikingly constant.
    2. The amount of free cholesterol in many of the active tissues is increased by the injection of adrenalin. This erect of adrenalin is entirely suppressed by the previous treatment with ergotoxin. The excitant period of ergotoxin however evokes the sane effect as adrenalin. The excitation of the sympathetic nerve ending therefore seems to cause inereas in the free cholesterol content of tissue.
    3. The effect. of adrenalin in increasing the free cholesterol content of tissue is found without any regard to the presence or absence of thyroid gland.
    4. The extirpation of thyroid gland induces the reduction in the amount of oxygen consumption. Together with this change the reduction of free cholesterol content in brain, lung and skeletal muscle i s observed.
    5. The amount of ester-cholesterol in adrenal bodies and blood plasma is increased in thyroiddepleted animal. This effect is not influenced by the injection of adrenalin at all. The hormon of thyroid gland seems to play some role in the free cholesterol formation from its ester.

    1. Während der Bebrütung des Hühnereies tritt eine Neubildung der Purinbasen ein.
    2. Die Menge des im Hühnerei vorhandenen freien Histidins ist sehr Bering und beträgt 0, 1mg, nimmt aber bei der Bebrütung allmählich zu und erreicht bis zu 0, 38mg.
    3. Im Vergleich mit dem Histidin beträgt die Argininmenge ungefähr das 10 fache, and nimmt auch bei der Bebrütung in derselben Relation zu.
    4. Die Menge des im frisehen Hühnerei frei vorhandenen Lysins beträgt über 6 mg und eine Vermehrung dieses Stoffes erfolgt in der letzten Hälfte der Bebrütungsdauer in viel bedeutenderem Masse als in der ersten Hälfte. Bei 19 tägiger Bebrütung erreicht der Lysingehalt seinen Höhepunkt. Er beträgt. 27, 35mg.

    1. Tvrosinase gives a high reduction potential with p-cresol and glycin in nitrogen-gas. In the presence of oxygen, this is not so significant.
    2. Tyrosine itself shows a sufficiently high reductions potential, which is not intensified by tyrosinase, even in presence of glycin.
    3. The reduction potential of catechol and hyrochinone, but not that of resoreinol is inereased by tyrosinase in the presence of glyein.

  • I. The Glycogen content

    1. The quantitative determination was made on the glycogen contents of the Tawara's bundle of horse and ox heart and compared with that of the heart musele.
    2. It was found that the former is far greater than the latter, thus leading to the conclusions that the microscopical results attained by nagayo and others stand in agreement with those obtained by the chemical analysis.
