The authors tested the off ect of "Gold-Organosol (Horiba-Odagiri)" made in the Chemical Institute of Kyoto Imperial Univerity upon 18 cases of lepra (lepra tuberosa 10 cases, lepra nervorum 3 cases and lepra maculosa 5 cases) and drew the following conclusions.
A curative action coulde be observed in 8 cases (44%) among them, and especially in case of lepra maculosa comparatively distinct. As the lightening of leprous symptoms the reduction or disappearance of leprous nodules and infiltratios, fading of leprous macula, lightening of thickening and pain caused by pressure of peripheral nerves, recovering of paralyses. In 8 cases (44%) the drug had brought no improvement of leprous changes at all. And in 2 cases (11%) the clinical symptoms grew worse in some degree. There was seen some by-effect in 8 cases (44%) and in 5 advanced cases of tuberous type among them it was somewhat remarkable. As the by-effect fever, headche, reddening, swelling, induration and pain in the injected part.
In the comparison of the curative effect of the drug with that of the gynocard oil, there could be found little difference.
