Hayashi's climate theory was certified in the study of alopecia leprosa by Nagai and in leprosy eye symptoms by Shionuma.
The author examined nerve symptoms in Keiaien for this purpose, where are 457 inmates including 187 fsom Japan proper, 146 from southern archipelago, Oshima, and 124 from Okinawa near Formosa.
One of the most important tables is quoted;
Nerve paralysis
Nerve Japan proper Oshima Okinawa Keiaien
Facialis 44.9% 21.9% 26.7% 32.6%
in 1-3 years 33.5% 16.0% 0 19.5%
Radialis 3.7% 1.4% 0 2.0%
Accessorius 2.1% 0.7% 0 1.1%
Peronaeus 187% 14.4%m 19.4% 17.5%
This shows clearly that the warmer is the climate, the slighter is the grade of leprosy paralysis and this corresponds to the fact that Hayashi did not see accessorius paralysis and heavy radialis or facialis paralysis in the tropical countries.
It is noteworthy that the average years of the patients from the beginning of disease are rather short in the patients from Japan proper, notwithstanding the heavy paralysis.
