    It is well known that there are numerous lepra bacilli in the fresh nodule. After the treatment with Promin or other drugs, leprosy bacilli are destroyed and take granular form. Lepra cells are filled and swollen with phosphatid lipoid granules through lysis of the bacilli.
    It will be produced some products as the result of metabolism of the leprosy bacilli. These products will enter into the blood stream and cause E. N. L. in the skin, Iridocylitis in eyes, Neuritis in nerves.
    The histopathological picture is chiefly composed of foamy lepra-cells, leucocytes, lymphocytes and plasma cells. We can not prove any pyogenic bacteria even when the lesion became abscess.

    1) Observations were made on 34 specimens of biopsies obtained from 8 cases of neural leprosy, each taken from the cutaneous sites of Mitsuda reactions following various lapses of time after above reaction. Simultaneously, control tests were performed with emulsions of inactivated organisms such as Mycobacterium leprae muris, Mycobacterium phlei (Timoty) and BCG. The following results were obtained.
    2) Within the first three days after injection, an inflammation of the non-specific, acute exsudative type was observed, while on the other hand a granulation similar to that in tuberculosis was observed to begin to appear approximately 8 days after injection and to fully establish itself after 2 weeks. However, only very rarely had this granulation been seen to display caseous degeneration.
    3) Occurrence of this tuberculosis-like granulation was found to differ very slightly in comparison with the histological changes found in experimentally inoculated BCG, Mycobacterium leprae muris or Mycobacterium phlei (Timoty), either in their chronological or quantitative aspects.
    4) Intracellular sojourn of inoculated organism in the epitheloid cells or giant cells was found to be relatively long.
    5) Mitsuda reaction in the case of neural leprosy, may be considered as a normal reaction rather than that of an allergic nature.
    6) There could be detected no differences in the histological picture in the Mitsuda reaction, no matter what the outcome of the tuberculin test.

    (1) Observations were made on 15 specimens of biopsies obtained from 5 cases of tuberculoid leprosy, each taken from the cutaneous sites of Mitsuda reaction. The following results were obtained.
    (2) Within the first three days after injection, an inflammation of the nonspecific, acute exsudative type was observed. Tuberculoid granulation was observed 8-14 days after injection.
    (3) It was observed that the injected bacilli were destroyed in the tissue earlier than in the neural cases.
    (4) The allergic nature of the early reaction, Bungler and Fernandez has stated, could not be found from histopathological standpoint.
    (5) The histopathological picture of Mitsuda reaction is the tuberculoid granulom caused by the destruction product of injected lepra bacilli.
    (6) There are no essential difference between neural and tuberculoid leprosy from the view of histological manifestation of Mitsuda reaction.

    Tooth caries was found in 54.97% of male, and 66.48% of female leprosy patients. The defect of the front teeth was observed in higher percentage in the upper jaw, and that of the molar teeth in the lower jaw. In this paper the author described on the defect of teeth and the reinforcement of them.

    We have experimented seroreaction of leprosy. Now we present here better ratio of antigen-components. New antigen which we found is made in the proportion of 0.2% cardiolipin (1), 1% cholesterin (15) and 1% cephalin (20) and 1% caolin was addedto this. With this method we observed more positive reactions in lepromatous sera than Ogata's method (complement binding reaction), moreover non-specific reactions were at lower rate than any other method.
    We think that the complement binding reaction with this ratio of antigen-components may be usuable method for serodiagnosis of leprosy.

    The results were as follows.
    1) Hamster has susceptibility to rat leprosy bacilli, and that degree seems to be slightly greater than that of rat.
    2) The modes of experimental rat leprosy in hamster are essentially same as that in rat.

    Susceptiblity of suckling, infant and adult mice to rat leprosy was observed by means of intracerebral, subcutanous and intraperitoneal inoculation of Myco. leprae murium.
    The results obtained were as follows: 1) Suckling and infant mice were not more suspceptible to rat leprosy than adult mice. 2) Rat leprosy induced inapparent infection in the brain of mice.

    The cultivation of the murine bacillus was carried out, under the various conditions, on Kirchner's media added with calcium chloride, Urabe-Kaku's media, Nakamura's media (mucin media) and other kinds of automedia, but the results were contrary to expectation. The Kirchner's media containing rodealin by the auther and the slide cell culture produced the mutiplication of bacillus, even if only at the first generation.
