In this paper, the relations among the composition of grinding wheel, elastic modulus and bending strength are studied.
The results obtained are as follows :
(1) In case of the composition being constant, the elastic modulus is not influenced by the grain size of the grinding wheel, on the other hand the bending strength is affected by it.
(2) Matsuno's equation can be applied to the relation between the composition of the grinding wheel and the elastic modulus.
(3) The relation between the composition of the grinding wheel and the bending strength is obtained experimentally.
(4) If the ratio of the percentage of bond to grain is constant, the bending strength as well as the elastic modulus have apporoximately the relation of exponential function with the porosity of the grinding wheel.
(5) The relation between the elastic modulus and the bending strength is obtained aperoximately.
(6) It is possible to assume the bending strength from the elastic modulus nondestructively.
