Reexamination was made on the gas components in the arterial blood of far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis cases at rest during air breathing. The effects of intermittent positve pressure breathing (I. P. P. B. ) on these cases were evaluated, on the basis of arterial oxygen saturation used as index. Also, the effects of pure oxygen breathing and exercise on their gas components, were studied.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The arterial oxygen saturtion at rest, in 23 of 51 cases (45.1%) was below normal limits. The arterial oxygen content for 51 cases on an average was as low as 13.08 vol. %, while their arterial carbon dioxide content was within normal limits (49.33 vol. %). The oxygen capacity was generally low indicating anemia. The above findings suggest the necessity of consideration for anemic anoxia. It does not seem always reasonable to diagnose anoxic anoxia only on arterial oxygen saturation in cases with far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis as seen in the present study. The % VC was low, its average value being 40.0%.
Concerning correlations between electrocardiographic, phonocardiographic findings and variations of arterial blood gas components, all cases with any phonocardiographic change belonged to an abnormal group of electrocardiogram except for two cases which showed only an accentuated second pulmonary sound. These two cases showed a normal oxygen saturation and a decrease of the oxygen content and oxygen tension in the arterial blood. About half the abnomal group of electrocardiogram revealed a decrease of arterial oxygen saturation, especially, of the arterial oxygen content. In 71.4% of that group, arterial carbon dioxide tension was found decreased and in 54.3% of it respiratory acidosis was observed or suggested.
2. Following the treatment of I. P. P. B., oxygen saturation in the arterial blood was improved in 8 of 11 cases (72.8%), but three cases were found unresponsive because of their aggravated clinical course, resulting in the fatality of two cases. The results of the treatment were followed for five months revealing its effect still continuously working. One case which apparently did not respond to the treatment showed a 4.12% improvement of arterial oxygen saturation in five months over the stage immediately after the treatment.
3. Two cases (9.1%) which failed to reach a 100% arterial oxygen saturation following a 100% oxygen inhalation, that is, cases which indicate the presence of anatomic venous admixture, showed their arterial oxygen saturation at rest to be below normal (92.0%).
4. Although the cases studied were comparatively few, all of them showed a decrease of arterial oxygen saturation after their physical exercise, most of the cases revealed a trend of decrease in the arterial oxygen content.
Cardiac output of these cases increased by 2∼2.5 times over the pre-exercise period

According to our serological studies on the crawfish, Cambarus clarkii, Crustacea, precipitin is demonstrated in the serum of the creature which was injected with 0.2-0.3 cc of rabbits' or goat's serum even just one hour before. This precipitin may reasonably be considered as the specific antibody, because of its being completly absorbed by the tanned cells coated with the homologous (goat's) serum proteins. Moreover it is shown that the precipitin coexist with the injected antigen (serum) in the crustacean blood.
In one dimensional cross paper electrohoresis developing the antigenic serum and its corresponding precipitin serum of the crawfish, when the albumin of the antiserum overlaps the same fraction of the antigen, there can be seen some irregularities of the albumin pattern of the antigen.
As the result of these experiments, it may be considered that the precipitin of the crawfish, extremely different from the mammalian antibody, is contained in the albumin fraction or in some other fractions electrophoretically undistinguishable from the albumin.

Studies are made on the frogs infected with Trypanosome. Among the Rana nigromain Osaka Prefecture, trypanosome can be found in the rate of ca.40% (32.2% by Okada,44.2% by Yabuuchi), but on the younger and smaller frogs (under 2.9 cm), trypanosome is rarely found in their blood.
Morphologically, T. costatum (25.3%) is found more frequently than T. rotatorium (16.3%).
No trypanosome is found in the blood of Rana temporaria and R. nigromaculata brevipoda.

The sloped beef extract blood agar (3 cc of N. N. media and 1 cc of defibrinated rabbit's blood), added with 0.3% saline solution up to the middle of the slant, is a most suitable culture medium for the frog trypanosome. It is necessary to shut off the light, because of its obstructive effect on the multication of the trypanosome. Few days after the inoculation, the frog trypanosomes grow in the liquid part of the medium, making a thin pericle on the surface or white sediment at the bottom of the liquid part.
Different from the characteristic forms of this trypanosome in the frog's blood stream, a few crithidial forms, a number of leptomonad forms can be observed in the artificial media. Microscopically some of them are swimming freely and others gather together making beautiful resettes, big or small.
The rabbit's antiseum for the frog trypanosome shows positive precipitin reaction and complement fixation test with the extract of this parasite.
Rieckenberg's reaction between the frog trypasome and corresponding rabbit's antiserum is markedly postive, but there is no group reaction in case of T. gambiense. The antibody for the frog trypanosome is also demonstrated in the normal serum of man and rabbit. When the trypaosomes, which liberated the thrombocytes of Rieckenberg's reaction, are washed in saline solution and put into the new medium, they show the recovery of their reactivity for Rieckenberg's reaction in 48 hours.

A report is made of four cases of tuberculosis and each one case of tuberculous meningitis and pulmonary abscess which demonstrated an atypical acid fast bacterium.
Five of the cases demonstrated the atypical acid fast bacterium in their sputa and one case in its spinal fluid. Two of the cases of tuberculosis and a case of tuberculous meningitis revealed the bacterium once or twice following adminstration of anti-tuberculosis agents when their general conditions had been improved; the rest three cases revealed it before the administration. No cases disclosed a mixture of the bacterium with mycobacterium tuberculosis; no cases revealed mycobacterium tuberculosis after the bacterium disappeared.
Discussions were made of features of the bacterium isolated in referance to its clinical significance.

We experienced that a case of dysenterycarrier (17 years old, waitress) had chills, nausea, vomiting, palpitation, flush of face, weakness of legs with high fever by taking Puradin.
These symptoms disappeard after Puradin's discontinuation.

Through X-ray examination I have recently encountered a gastric polyp case which could be misdiagnosed as a shadow defect of a duodenal tumor in the duodenal bulb. The patient a male of 57 years had complained of feeling an inflation in the abdomen for the past several months. In this case the X-ray film showed a clear defect in the duodenal bulb and in anather film appeared the defekt in the prepyloric region. Surgical operation revealed to be a thumb sized gastric polyp which had grew in the prepyloric region and histologic examination proved it to be a benign adenoma.
