We performed 114 total knee arthroplasties with the NexGen LPS system from January 1996 to December 2001. Bone cuts were made with an independent cut procedure. This total knee system provided reliable alignment and stability of the knee, and clinical short-term results were satisfactory. The postoperative range of flexion was improved compared to those results associated with our other series using PCL-retaining prostheses. Fifty-two percent of the knees had postoperative flexion by more than 125 degrees. However, careful follow-up is mandatory for cases in which posterior edge loading of femoral components is observed in deep flexion.
