On the three phase X-ray generators, we have many problems with its dynamic characteristics. One of them is linearity failure at very short exposure time. When exposure produced for the duration of tube voltage rise time and fall time is relatively greater compared with the exposure at the steady state of the tube voltage and can not be disregarded, the linearity between exposure time and total eexposure fails. This failure depends on the make and break mechanism of the generator's main circuit. In the first report, we have studied the linearity failure of a typical three phase diagnostic X-ray generator. The making meachanism of the main circuit is a two step method, where the initial pull-in is with the single phase of the primary voltage. If the allowable value of this linearity failure is 1.2 times to the ideal value, the sum of the durations of rise and fall time should be less than the exposure time.

The fundamental concept and the formula of information spectrum are given. The information spectrum is to evaluate synthetically the basic imaging properties (the contrast, the latitude, the sharpness, and the granularity) as a function of spatial frequency. The information spectra explain successfully the image qualities of the Rossmann's radiographs of beads and a needle. We can select the best system appropriate for an object by comparing the information spectra of various imaging systems at the significant frequency range of the object.

The performance of Rotate/Rotate type CT scanner (Toshiba CT scanner TCT-80A) was evaluated base items of user's initial acceptance tests (Phase II), in "Standard of performance evaluation for X-ray computed tomography (first recommendation)", proposed by Dr. E. Takenaka et al. in 1979. In this report (part 2), the results of measurement of low contrast resolution, radiation dose, artifact, size dependency, position dependency, edge effect and linearity of CT number are described. When measured using recommended phantoms, low contrast resolution and radiation dose under technique factors of routine examination were 2 mm in diameter and 1.34 rad respectively in scan field S. Size dependency and position dependency were observed. Convolution filter of FC-3 shows the best edge effect at the boundary of high and low absorption material. Linearity test shows slight deviation from linear line at the vicinity of CT number O.

The use of scinticamera for thyroid iodine uptake was evaluated by a method which allows simultaneously imaging of thyroid scintigram. It was found that thyroid uptake measurement made with scinticamera was reliable and it was not necessary to use scintillation counter for kinetic study. ^<123>Iodine capsule as well as ^<131>Iodine were useful. Thyroid uptake measured by with scinticamera methods, (1) and (2), here under were very similar to that of with scintillation counter. (1) : Thyroid uptake with a parallel collimator was measured under following conditions : neck to collimator distance was 10 cm ; radio-isotope counting included the counts of 9 cm×9 cm on the neck and subtraction of natural counts as background ; plane phantom was necessary as a standard source. (2) : When pinhole collimator was used, the measuring distance was 3 cm, the counting was in the whole area of the imaging screen without natural counts and the ORINS phantom was used as a standard source.
