Now we have obtained the chance to correct the weighting factors which seemed CT images were influenced by it. This weighting factors (called the weight) classified into the following three kinds, the weight A was to cutoff sharp the high frequency domain, the weight B was to cutoff smoothly high frequency domain, and the weight C was intermediate between the weight A and the weight B. Here we investigated how far these weight have produced an effect upon CT images. Results are as follows 1. We observed that the weight A accompained with ringing or undershoot from surrouding a phantom. At the center water CT values of a head phantom decreased in comparison with around phantom. But the weight B had a little CT values lower than the former. Still it noticed clear inclination in case of using together with the compensator material (Conraxin L). 2. We measured MTF of three kinds of CT images to apply star phantom, The results shown that the weight A was superior to low spatial frequency, and the weight B was better high spatial frequency than other.

Since EMI-scanner was first reported by J. Ambrose and G. Hounsfield in 1972,computed tomography (CT) has found a widespread use in clinical practice. Notably in neurosurgery it has become an indispensable radiolodical diagnostic procedure and has greatly contributed to the recent progress of neuroradiodiagnostics. CT permits to discriminate slight difference in X-ray absorption which conventional radiography cannot do. Its discrimination threshold is said to be a difference of 0.5% in X-ray absorption. On the other hand, it has been known that in the presence of a gross difference in X-ray absorption, an artifact is liable to occur, making the picture difficult to read. Thus, in the tomographic scans, of an orbital or basilar region where there are complex bony structures and air, or when there is something artificial within the cranium itself, e.g. an artifical bone, shunt tube, contrast medium and a hemostatic metal clip, a distinct artifact is apt to occur, deteriorating diagnostic comptence materially. So we attempted to select the hemostatic metal clip free from producing artifacts in order to enhance the diagnostic value of CT. As a result of studying various metal clips experimentally the Ti clip was the best of them all. In our daily practice of brain surgery we have successfully obtained computed tomograms of good quality completely free from artifacts by making use of the hemostatic Ti clip.

Recently, the remote control barium enema apparatus has been developed and spreaded, and the other side, the security of patient in clinical use come into question. From a step of trial production to a step of clinical use in our hospital, we improved the mechanical problems of apparatus. (A) injection circuit of air, (B) barium and air supply tube from apparatus to patient, (C) catheter and connecting. Consequently, we obtained good result in about 200 clinical use.

The performance of the "NPL Secondary Standard, Therapy Level X-ray Exposure Meter" has been checked up on the stability and repeatability with the ^<90>Sr source, ^<60>Co γ-ray and 10 MeV X-rays from linear accelerator. 1. The error of readings has been minimized through the use of the digital voltmeter with 0.1 mV in final digit (Fluke, Digital Multimeter 8,800 A). 2. The accuracy of measuring time has been improved through the use of the electronic digital timer with 0.01 second in final digit. 3. Through the checks of repeability, the standard deviation of the measured values has been observed to be lower than 0.04%. 4. Through the repeated stability checks with the ^<90>Sr source for 1 year, the difference of readings has been indicated 0.2% at maximum. 5. It is very important to hold the stability of dose meter that temperature, pressure and humidity should be measured through the accurate devices, and temperature and humidity in the room should be unified.

The first Mitsubishi Electric Co. Linac type ML-15M was installed in 1970. Maintenance and reliability of the equipment have been examined for seven years. Thirty percent of the troubles happend immediately after installation. Another thirty percent were caused by the superannuation of the parts. Average Klystron life was 3813.9 hours which was three or four times longer than Magnetron. Rate of troubles was under 0.5 PCT per hour. Operation rate constantly over 96 PCT is satisfactory. A distribution chart for each tumor treated by Linac was also presented.
