A condenser discharge type X-ray apparatus, which has capacitance of 3.2μF and a wave tail chopping device, has been developed. The characteristics of this machine, especially the X-ray spectra emitted, photographic effects such as film density, contrast and unsharpness of the X-ray picture have been investigated. The characteristics of a three phase X-ray machine, which has been considered as the most excellent diagnostic apparatus owing to the homogeneity of the X-ray, high permissible load of the X-ray tube and very short exposure time, have been also studied. The conculusion obtained by the comparison of these data are as follows : 1. The spectra of X-ray, emitted from the condenser apparatus, have more components in the short wave region than those given by the three phase apparatus. 2. The value of milliampere-seconds necessary for the same film density at the same tube voltage is less in the case of condenser apparatus than the three phase machine. 3. The unsharpness of X-ray picture of a phantom, obtained by the condenser apparatus is smaller than that obtained by the three phase machine, both pictures having the same contrast. In other words, the contrast of X-ray picture obtained by the condenser apparatus is better than that obtained by the three phase machine, both pictures having the same unsharpness.

It is the purpose of this paper to introduce a method of cross section graphy of human body, especially of the chest, using widely popularized tomography unit, which can be easily performed even in medical institution without rotatography unit. Patients were placed to be at right angeles to the movement plane of X-ray tube and the tube focus was setted diagonally to outward (10°-40°) and passed X-ray center through the cross section of the object and the center of X-ray film. X-ray film was putted in vertical under the object and in parallel to the plane of movement of X-ray tube. The film holder which was fitted up to Bucky instrument was setted to move in reverse to the direction of X-ray tube movement.

Using a low voltage radiography apparatus, the auther tried out a method for obtaining an effect as clase as possible to that of high voltage radiography which latter, as is well known, has many advantages. He obtained good results, in apical radiography and lateral radiography, by using a compensating filter together with a checked filter.

To apply geometric enlargement technique to tomography, the author improved an X-ray apparatus, which he tested for precision and for the elimination of scattered X-rays. The results of experiments with a phautom, show that this modified method excels the usual methods as regards sensitivity of details of image. Good results were also obtained clinically.
