For measuring X-ray energy, the effective energy calculated from the half-value layer method has been used : In the case of continuous X-ray, however, the method based on the effective energy contains many errors. Therefore, the distribution of the energy of the primary X-ray was measured using the scintillation spectrometer. The method of the measurement and the results of that were investigated, too.

The X-ray dosimetry has been established so far as in the conventional therapy. However, the standard of the high energy X-ray dosimetry and the low energy X-ray dosimetry has not been decided. Therefore, the problems of low energy X-ray dosimetry were investigated through the experiments. In this experiment, soft X-ray tube of mice window was used under 10kVp-25kVp. 1) In order to measure the air absorption which has influence on the soft X-ray range, the authors, first of all, calculated Al H.V.L. of each kVp, measured the change of X-ray quality and examined the degree of attenuation of the air based on the invers squeer low. 2) On the basis of the data mentioned above, the authors measured the length of the dosimeter ionizing part toward X-ray incident direction by using the extrapolation chamber manufactured for trial. 3) As for the measurement of the depth dose, the proper quantity of inonization volume of the chamber were calculated using the function of kVp and Phantom depth.

The spectral distribution of Grenz-ray which emanated from the Grenz-ray tube with mica window was calculated on the basis of Kulenkampff's empirical formula. The out put dose which is used practically was calculated in the same way. In this case, the high voltage wave studied concerning the Sin wave and Condenser type.

It is difficult to get a well positioned X-ray picture of infant. Recently, it is reported by Toyono and Kato, that there are no difference in results between the erect positioned P-A and horizontal positioned A-P in infant chest X-ray picture. Standing these reports, here, a new cassette holder is reported. Using this cassette holder, one can easily get the well positioned picture and the moving of infant may be reduced by taking sway of the pain of infant due to the cassette edges. 1) This holder has a hollow place which makes about infant form that sheated the soft matress, and the cassette is settled at more hollowed place. 2) Fixing the basic lines of cassette holder and the X-ray table, one can exclude the procedure of positioning of X-ray tube and sizing of the shutter. 3) The radiation field size makes to be minimum it easily, so the radiation hazard to the infant become minimum.

Variations dose rates of X-rays and electron beams of the medical 15 MeV betatron with forcus-ionization chaber distance are studied. As for X-rays, the low energy component is found to be fairly large, especially near the donut. Therefore the dose rate is not inversely proportional to the square of the distance as is simply expected. But using 2.5cm thick acrylite or 3mm lead cap on the ionization chamber, the inversely proportional relation can be obtained. The effect of the scattering rays from the filter is also examined by this method. In the case of the electron beams, the dose rate is not inversely proportional to the square of distance at all, but to the m-th power of the distance (2<m<3). The value of m differs for various energies or methods of measurement. The location of the electron beam source, so called the equivalent focus, is estimated from the variation of the dose rate with distance. The equivalent focus almost coincides with the center of the donut. But the ones decided by photographic method are not same point on the orbital plane and on the vartical plane. And moreover they vary with energy.
