In the point of view of the genetically significant dose of the nation, the reduction of the gonad dose is the vital question. It is a matter of the gravest concern of radiologists and radiographers how to reduce the medical exposure of the patient without a marked deterioration in the X-ray diagnosis. There are some effective methods using the TV System technique, however they are highly expensive, so that nowadays it is difficult to use them in every clinic. The attempts in the X-ray examination using the highspeed intensifying screen, high-speed film, and high-powered developer together have been made in our institute. This method can be taken at a small outlay and immediately used in every clinic. Using this method the radiogram can be taken with 1/25〜1/50 X-ray dose of the ordinary one. This method is more effective, especially in some kinds of X-ray examinations, early detection of congenital dislocation of the hipjoint, pelycography for the purpose of measureing the pelvic diameter, hystero-salpingography and the radiography which do not need so high sharpness and the gonad protection is quite difficult.

In the routine X-ray photgraphy, there exists some trouble of taking uniform density on the same film. From the anatomical points of the View, it is obvious that the different thickness of each parts of the body makes is difficult. Various techniques have been devised from this point. And, in this paper, there explained about newly devised rotating slit filter and demonstrated the excellent results of the films took from the new method.

Generally, high voltage radiography of the chest is performed at the tube voltage up to 150kV. Many investigations have been published on this subject, but reports on high voltage such as 200kV radiography are very few. It is known that the more the tube voltage increases, the more the image quality decreases. In this paper, two new types of high sensitive intensifying screens and a new film with fine grain are used at 200kV radiography, and information capacity (entropy) of these screen-film combinations and patient exposure are compared with those of standard screen-film combination. The value of the entropy of the combination of screen LM and film RX-G is 3 per cent higher than that of standard (screen FS and film RX) combination and the exposure is 28 per cent less. Combination FH and RX-G is 6 per cent higher in entropy and 8 per cent greater in exposure than those in standard combination.

In the general, routine examinations, the procedure for the gastric fluoroscopy has been standardized and the irradiation does on the patient dose not differ much from person to person. When several findings are proposed, however, the fluoroscopy takes a considerably long time, resulting in an increased dose on the gonad. The present study concerns the relationship between the kinds of findings and the irradition doses, with special reference to the possible difference between the two groups, a group composed of radiologists and the other of non-radiologists. Findings actually cited in this report are on the gastric ulcers, gastric cancers and duodenal ulcers, which are commonly found in the gastric and duodenal fluoroscopy. In the group of radiologists, no significant difference was observed between the kind of findings and the irradiation dose. As regards the group of non-radiologists, however, some significant difference was observed, the irradiation dose was particularly large in the case of the gastric cancers.

To analize the mathematical relationship between the detectability of the radio-negative tumor images and the patient-factors which were reported on the previous paper, a theoretcal formula was induced based upon the new concept designated as "Specific Radiation Contrast" (S. R. C.). This theoretical expression was revealed to be satisfactory to interpret thhe data obtained in the previous study concerning the hindrance-factors and the demonstrability of radio-negative tumor images. Thus, the hindrance-factors are explained by the values of this simple formala.

This is the report of investigation on two kinds of X-ray diagnostic apparatus, an Over-Tube Type (FFD. 100cm) and an Under-Tube Type (FFD. 75cm), and the object of this report is to reduce the dose of X-rays of patients under stomach examination. I used the water phantom (14cm, 17cm and 20cm) and measured, by Film Badge method, the dose of applied X-ray and scattered X-rays in X-ray photograph, in fluoroscopy, or in both of them. As the result of the measurement, it turns out that an Over-Tube Type apparatus is better. Besides, as far as working voltage is concerned, it is surely said that the high voltage is better.
