In order to oftain a numerical value of resolving power, the parallel-line type or Siemens star test chart has probably been employed the most extensively. When these test charts use, spurious resoltion is observed. I explaine the reason of this spurious resolution by geometrical method.

When the ^<131>I-T_3 Resin Sponge Uptake test as in vitro thyroid function test is performed, it may happen that a radioiodine in blood serum due to preadministration of Na ^<131>I for thyroid uptake test is absorbed into the resin sponge. The thyroid function test with ^<131>I-triiodothyronine resin sponge uptake is now being used in the diagnosis of various thyroid diseases. The test pracedure is extremely simple and safe compared with other thyroid function tests. The resin sponge washing apparatus was devised to make the resin sponge wash more easily during the process of the test procedure. The results obtained were satisfactory. It is the purpose of this work to reduce the gonad dose to the population. the procedure of the gonadal protection should be devised hibitualy in the radiography of the hip joint, especially in the case of the congenital luxation for infant. The methods of the gonadal protection consist of the three points. 1) A new roentgenographic table made by the authors could easily get the well positioning for hip joint roentgenography. One could get easily the accurate positioning of the protector. 3) A Roughly triangular lead shield (lead equivalent 2.0mm) was made for placing the patient's pelvis in the supine position, and it completely shelded the female gonad from the direct irradiation (Fig. 10). A method of protection of the male gonads was to wrap up the gonad with lead rubber tube (Fig. 12). The good hip joint roentgenography were obtained by these devices. By this method, the gonad dose was reduced less than 1/10 in male and 1/15 in femal as compared with non-protecting lead divices. 3) The authors studied about proper selection of an intensifying screen, a multi-leaf diaphrogm, an adequate tube valtage, a highly sensitivity film, a grid, so as to reduce the exporsure dose.

The author had reported his study on radiography with the patient on the stretcher at the 22nd Japan Hoshasen Gijitsu Gakkai and had published it in "Kyosai Iho^^^"Vol. 15,No. 3. He further made progress in his studies and improved on the stretcher for emergency radiography and treatment (Hanamoto Type STAT Stretcher for radiography) as follows : - 1. It is possible to lift up one side of the improved stretcher with the patient on it in order to lower the head of the patient. 2. The armatures at the sides of the wheels of improved stretcher can be folded down. 3. Therefore images for surgery can be usedat any part of the improved stretcher. 4. An angular cassette holder, irrigator and other fittings can be fitted on the rail of the improved stretcher.
