    This paper treats the problem of determining the Critical stress in the case of axial compressin of a circular cylindrical shell. We solved this problem according to the total potential energy method, then we obtain for [numerical formula] equation (10). We shall try to determine the additional displacement components in the form (12), using (2)〜(4), introducing (12) in equation (10) we obtain the relationship (16) between the axial stress and the shell parameters, the numbers of waves m and n on the circumference and axis with the buckling of the shell. This form is different from the other solution (16') by W. Flugger and Timoshenko, that we take the non-linear expressional equation (2), (3) between the relative elongations, the bending deformations and the displacement.

    I have reported the method for the theoretical stress analysis on space trussed shells. This analytical method consists of taking out the small unit element which constitutes these space trussed shells themselves and setting up the equations of forse equilibrium and compatibility to induce their fundamental differential equations. This present paper is concerned with a comparative study between the theory of space trussed shells and that of plates and shells. It is concluded that if the cross sectional areas of the members of the trussed shell shown in Fig.1, A_x=A_y=√<2>A_p=√<2>A_q and the rididities of the members, I_x=I_y=√<2>I_p=√<2>I_q and the angle between p, q-axes and χ-axes θ=π/4, this space trussed shell is isotropic in both extensional rigidity and flexural rigidity, so that it is replced with the theoretical equations of isotropic shells. Moreover, if the cross sectional areas of the members of the space trussed shell shown in Fig.2, A_x=A_p=A_q and the flexural rigidies of the members, I_χ=I_p=I_q and the angle between p, q-axes and χ-axes θ=π/3, this space trussed shell is also isotropic in bothe extentional rigidity and flexural rigidity, so that it is replaced with the theoretical equations of isotropic shells.

    Up to the previous reports, the equations of deformation, stresses and forces have been expressed in partial difference. Whilst the crossed type was soluted by the method using proper values, the others by calculation of simultaneous algebraic equations with many unknowns. This time, we will take up analysis of cylindrical spaced truss using the same method. Firstly, let us consider that the stresses of several chords are an unknown quantities and if we begin to find the equilibruim of external forces and chord stresses at every point, then force eqilibruim can be obtained by eliminating lattice stresses. Next we find the equation of deformation with respect to horizontal displacement conditions with the exception of shearing deformation. From these, two equations so obtained are used in the original form and the chord stress are solved by the method of simultaneous algebraic equation. Comparing the results of spaced trussed plate with those of spaced trussed shell, we find that the stress or deformation of the latter is considerably smaller than that of the former. Moreover, if the spaced truss of this type is used in bending form, it was found that it can be utilized most satisfactory as the shell, and at the same time the efficiency of spaced truss of this type in shear resistance of middle plane has been evidently reaffirmed.

    This paper is concerned with the theoretical discussions on the extent of elastic recovery and the residual settlement in a loading test on a bearing pile. The loading test is performed under the loading method that the pile is unloaded after every load increase. The relations between skin-friction f and displacement S at the depth z in the loading and unloading processes are assumed as shown in Fig.3, with reference to the experimental results of Fig.2. That is, the f〜S curve in the loading process is expressed approximately as the broken line OAB' under the consideration of the decrease of skin-friction of the disturbed clayey soil surrounding the pile caused by the repetition of loading. If the decease can be neglected, the route O→A→B' will coincide with the route O→A→B. In the unloading process from some loading stage and in the reloading process, the f〜S curves are assumed to be such straight lines parallel to the tangent line OC at the origin, as DE, FG(F'G), HI(H'I) etc. Fig.6〜10 give some numerical examples on the solutions of the differential equation (1). Fig.7 expresses the transitions of the distributions of skin-friction f, settlement S and strain ε along the pile axis corresponding to the unloading processes in Fig.6 and 9. As the result, the following informatinos can be obtained. There exists the negative skin-friction along the pile axis after the unloading. The total negative friction is in equilibrium with the residual point resistance R_<PR> as shown in Fig.8. Accordingly, S_<OR>=S_<PR>+δ_<fR> S_<Oe>=S_<pe>=(δ-δ_<fR> where δ : elastic compression of pile shaft δ_<fR> : residual compression of pile shaft S_<Oe>, S_<OR> : the extent of elastic recovery and the residual settlement of pile top S_<Pe>, S_<PR> : the extent of elastic recovery and the residual settlement of pile point The load〜residual settlement curve is expressed as the curve ε_O〜S_<OR> in Fig.6, 9 and 10, having 3 stages according to the distributions of f in the loading stages before the unloading.

    Lightness of rooms rated by visual sense is no doubt largely affected with the holizontal illumination and the mean brightness in the whole visual field. But besides, we had a prospect that it would be affected with the shapes of rooms too. In other words, the adequat value of illumination or the mean brightness might differ from each other according to the hight or the width or the width or the depth of each room. We took for samples 18 concourses of railway station in Tokyo and its neighbourhood, and measured the mean horizontal illumination and the mean brightness in the whole visual field by a person standing at the centre of its entrance, and at the same time we (nine persons) memorized the psychological value of ligthness of each room in 7 grades. The relation between that psychological value of lightness and the shapes of rooms, especially the depth of room, is seen at Fig.8〜13. It would be concluted certainly from the results that the paychological value of lightness decrease according to the depth of room. Besides, the adequate value of the mean horizontal illumination and the mean brightness in the whole visual field were also obtaind. Fig.6 and 7 show these value, which are about 330lx and 150ml (meter Lambert).

    The member of "tatami" in dwelling rooms of dwelling houses, is used as a measure of the size of living area of dwelling houses in Japan. The "tsubo" is a general measuring unit of land or building areas. And area of one "tsubo" equals two "tatami", it is about 3.3m^2. Both of them are used in statistical reports or researches on housing problem in Japan. Analysing the distributions of the correlations between "tsubo" and "tatami", indicated in several statistics and researches, it is shown that the average ratio of living spaces in dwelling units is 50% of total floor areas, inexclusive use for dwelling, but its variations and deflexions, influenced by grade of areas, localities, kind of structures, tenure of dwellings or standaligations, have very varions type. Especially, the increasing trend of living space-ratio in small units, recognized by this analysis, is the important matter in the present Japanese urban housing problem.

    Durch die Zeit von '55 bis zum '64 hat Japan Housing Corporation (J.H.C.) an die 97 Gebiete 11, 400 ha die Entwicklung in Angriff genommen, in denen an die 23 Gebiete vollenden hatte. Die Entwicklungsmethode ist das, erst kauft J.H.C. das Land im gemassen Umfang und darauf fuhrt den Gesetzen gemass die Anordnung der Blocke aus. J.H.C. schlagt zum Aufbauminister den Gebieteplan vor dann bildet den Blockeanordnungsverband, in denen Reihe fuhrt die Verfahren der anderwartigen Anwendung des Ackerlandes aus, macht den Entwurf und fangt das Bauwerk an. Darauf werden die entwickelten Baugrunde zum Teil nach der Wohnungsaufbau-Abteilung ubergetragen, zum Teil fur die arbeitende Klasse verkauft. Die offentlichen Einrichtungen werden nach den Gemeinde ubergetragen. Die verschiedenen Verfahren sowie die Entschadigung uber die Bauarbeiten dauern ziemlich langen Zeiten. Jetzt es uber 5 Jahren braucht, um die Plane zu vollenden, ist die Leistung des Investierten Kapitals nicht gut. In dieser Forschung sind die typischen 8 Gebiete aufgenommen worden, und wurden die Wechselbeziehung von den Zeiten der verschiedenartigen Verfahren, den Fortschritten der Landsverkaufe und Wohnungsaufbaus, and die Gebietesstelle, Gebietesgrosse, analysierte.
