    Attempts are made herein to account for the cause of those considerably frequent slab damages, attended with large deflections, which occur over an L-shaped balcony R.C. slab cantilevered out at a building corner, as those over a group of L-shaped slabs encountered relatively of late. For the purpose of that theorizing their scaled-down models were prepared, subjected to test loading and the obtained sets of data are compared with corresponding finite element solutions based on suitable idealizations including treatments of material nonlinearity and cracking effect. The results are examined on statical characteristics of those slabs and some considerations are deduced therefrom on their reinforcing design and on an existing likelihood of their inaccurate execution which is even more sensitive to those damages.

    In this paper, the following problems are investigated experimentally for 22 specimens of Series 1〜3, under statical lateral loading, (1) moment-rotation characteristics, (2) strength and fracture properties of column-base connections in steel structures. In this way it is intended to obtain basic data which are indispensable for the stress analysis of the steel frame in consultation with the deformation condition of column-base connections. The main results derived from these analysis of our experiments are as following : (1) With regard to the characteristic nature on the M/_<min>M-φ curve it was confirmed that in the case when the first yielding takes place to the anchor bolts, the observed values fit to the calculated values to M/_<min>M_y=1.0, while, in the case when the first yielding takes place to the base then the observed values fit to the calculated values to M/_<min>M_y=1.5. (2) It is made clear by our experiment that the effect of the tightening of anchor bolts is released gradually by repeated loading. In order to estimate the rotation coefficient β in column base, Eq.15 proposed in our paper can be applyed when no axial force is effected. (3) As to the damage or failure of column-base connections, following points are noteworthy, (i) it takes place quite often that fissures and cracks break out in the finish mortar and/or base concrete in the circumference of the anchor bolts after they are yielded. (ii) brittle fractures are apt to take place in the screw of the anchor bolt when it is tigthened too much. (iii) the most important factor that affects to the ultimate strength is the strength of anchor bolts.

    The purpose of this investigation is to promote a composite structure for low-rise buildings. The composite structure of steel frames of wide flange sections and infilled concrete walls casted in-situ is considered to be recommendable. To establish a design provision of the composite structures, firstly, the ultimate strength of headed stud connectors in walls are experimentally evaluated. Secondly, elasto-plastic behaviors of four frame specimens on one third scale model are investigated under a constant axial load and a repeated and reversed horizontal load. The four specimens are composed of two types, in which bendings of columns are subjected about strong and weak axes respectively. One of steel frames in each type, prior to casting the concrete wall, is preloaded until plastic hinges are fully developed. The test results are summarized as follows. (1) The restoring force and displacement relationship of composite structures appears as favourable summation of the strengths of the steel frame and the concrete shear wall. Brittleness of the concrete shear wall is remarkably improved and the energy absorbing capacity is well maintained. (2) This structures may be successfully introduced to strengthen damaged steel frames. (3) For a prediction of the ultimate strength of this structures, a numerical method, which is based on the concrete shear wall by a diagonal strut and a simple plastic evaluation of the steel frame, is proposcd.

    In towns and cities the green tract of land is going on decreasing yearly, so the technology for planting on the artificial ground such as concretes structures, pavement and the like, was investigated to recover natural environment in these disolated districts. On the models of artificial ground, the growth of three kinds of ground cover plants, Zoysia metrella (KOHRAISHIBA), Kentucky blue glass and Flench marry gold, were examined with loam and perlits mixed soil to make clear the foundmental problems about planting method. And various effects of the planting layer on the building structures were also investiglated. The result of the experiment were as follows. (1) The vitalle limit of the depth of soil strata was 10cm with irrigation, and 20cm without one. (2) The growth of both turfs was slow, but lived on 5cm depth soil bed. (3) The reasonable volume of irrigation on the thin soil strata was 20mm per 5 days. (4) The maintenances of planting such as irrigation, fertilization, prevention of insect damage and so on are more important than in the case of natural earth ground. (5) The planting layers were effective for the insulations of structures.

    The development of the new type of parallel hot-wire probe, which is called here as tandem hot-wire probe, is reported. Two hot-wires of a parallel-array probe are connected with the strain guage adhesive. The connection of the two hot-wires improves the directivity. The directivities of mean value and instantaneous value of this probe agree with the cosine curve exactly. Therefore, the three components of mean value and instantaneous value can be measured by this probe. It's response to the turbulence is almost the same with the single hot-wire probe.     The purpose of this study is to give graphical expression to the building system by symbolized building joints. On the assumption that a building is considered as a thing that is assembled systematically by building members, the organization of building members should be expressed by three kinds of matrix. ie. jointing matrix, building member matrix, joint parts matrix. By this way, not only the whole form but details can be expressed and analysis of organization of building become easy.

    This is a basic study on how to prevent injuries related to flat glass, by clarifying the correlation between the strength of human impact and the strength of flat glass during private life at home. The study consists of two parts. This paper, as Part One of the study, deals with the impact strength of flat glass measured by experiment on glasses in actual use or in potential use at private houses.

    The objective of the study is to propese new and comprehensive tables of bodily measurements that have been developed on the basis of ergonomics, and can directly be applied to architectured planning. Each table corresponds to the adult, the old, children and the handicapped, and is so arranged that required bodily dimensions can be read at the cross of human posture (vertical axis) and the type of objects (horizontal axis).

    本論文では, 前回論文に示されたフレキシビリティー概念, 及びその試算方法から出発し, (1)では, より簡略な実用可能な計算方法とその結果を示し, (2)に於て若干の理論的補足の後, (3)で計算値と現実の状況との照合を試みた。これは理論検証の為の第一歩であるが, 現実の状況にはいくつかの理論的に確定し得ない要因があり, 資料には精度, 取扱い上の制約があり, 理論に於ても未だ拡張の不充分な点があった。以上を考慮に入れ, 今回の結果はほぼ肯定的なものとの判断に留まるであろう。この結論をより確実なものとする為には上記についての改善が計られなければならないが, その内理論的不備の主要な問題としての動的解析について(4)でその試論が述べられてた。次に行われるべきはこの試論による計算の実行であるが, それに際しては, 新たな資料が必要とされると共に, 全体資料の整備, 処理精度の向上が計られ, 異なった状況にあるケース・スタディーへの検討がされねばならない。これらは, いずれも次の段階の仕事として残された。又, この理論の計画論への展開の可能性について2, 3, 部分的に述述べられたが, 全体的には継続研究の成果を待ち, 稿をあらためて述べることとする。最後に, これらの作業の目標及び今後の課題を改めて要約する。i)これ迄, 事務所建築の計画に当って, 最初に要求事務室面積から全体の構成, つまり, 建物のブロック分け, 各階平面規模, 階数, コア, 固定壁による空間分割等の決定に際し, 考慮されていた要因の中に新たに有効利用率が導入される。この結果は, 全体構成によって有効利用率が左右され, 建設必要面積が変更されるべき事を示すことになる。同時にこの有効利用率は, 建設, 運営上の資金効率を当然規制する。換言すれば, 以上の予測を含んだ全体計画が可能となる。ii)更に, 事務室に於て一般に重視されている空間分割の自由化の為の可動システム化への努力に対しても, 空間分割の変動頻度が与えられ, 利用頻度を考慮に入れた可動システムの計画が可能となる。iii)平面計画については, モジュール効率が示され, これによりモジュラー・プランニングの効率を問題にすることが可能になる。iv)上記の全項目に関係して, 空間分割の組織単位を組織構成のどのレベルのものとするかが重要であるが, この事から逆に, 大部屋システム, 個室中心システム等の効率面からの優劣が判定可能となる。以上が現段階で明らかとなった目標の内容であるが, これらは, いずれも事務組織上の問題と関係を持っており, その構成と変化の状態を示すデータが必要とされているが, 当面これは個別的調査データに頼らざるを得ない。その積重ねの上で, 一般的な結論を見出すことは, 今後の重要な課題であろう。その1つに前回の論文に述べた標準的な作業単位の確認がある。尚, 上記平面計画については, iii)のモジュール効率及びiv)の分割の規模のみが取上げられているが, 更に平面形状の影響をとらえる指標を見出すことも課題である。

    This paper deals with the change in the spatial structure of traditional recreation places, such as roads, canals and shrines, and the derelopment processes of parks in the Meiji era. From the examination of the change in recreation space, population, distribution of schools and traffic in the Nihonbashi district, it is revealed that the spatial development of traditional recreation places faces a turning point at around 1887 and 1907. At the same points in time, the plans of parks are proposed. The coincidence of these two phenomena influenced the park planning to a certain extent thereafter.

    Gross floorratio and open space per floor ratio are the most important index on residential environment. So the planning criterion should be constructed with relations between these two indices within the block, not within lot-by-lot. In this study, the criterion are made on the basis of the data about residehtial safisfactions and other govenring criteria, adequate sunlight, usable open opace, and so on. And the way how to use the criterion is showed by sone case stcdies.

    This paper is a study on the actual state of the architects' and engineers' organization in the Ministry of Education, which showed a large scale of activity as an architectural design organization for higher educational facilities. Here, paying a special attention to activity system of the organization which mainly means architectural design and construction management, I make clear the functional side of the organization in the Meiji Era. And at last, I try to clarify the responsible architect or engineer in charge of each main construction work. Contents of this paper are as follows; 1. Activity system in the Mid-Meiji Era 2.     The dynamic response analysis of fixed offshore cylindrical shell structures subjected to wind-induced random ocean waves is studied by using the free vibration data in water, which was already obtained by three different approaches; Rayleigh-Ritz method, finite element method and matrix progression method. The incident random waves can be simulated from Pierson-Moskowitz wave height spectrum through the superposition of a number of simple harmonic waves of different wave heights, periods and phases. The hydrodynamic pressures on a vibrating shell subjected to ocean waves are computed by taking the sum of the pressure components of incident waves, diffracted waves assuming a restrained structure and radiation waves generated by the motion of a shell by a linear potential flow theory. The effects of dynamic interaction between a shell and water can be estimated as the added mass in phase with the acceleration of a shell and the radiation damping in phase with the velocity of a shell in the uncoupled modal equation of motion which can be derived by making marking use of the orthogonality of mode shapes in water. The response quantities such as displacements and stress resultants are obtained in the frequency domain and in the time domain. In order to show the application of the theory and the procedure, some numerical calculations are carried out. Based on the numerical results, the effects of shell configuration and water depth on the dynamic behaviours and the effects of radiation damping on the response quantities are discussed.
